Nick Saban never won a bowl game at Michigan State. In fact, he got blown out in a couple of them.

His year 1 to 3 trajectory at both Temple and Baylor are pretty damn amazing.

Saban, realized quickly that his style of coaching wasn't going to work in the NFL and that he was suited for coaching the college game and dealing with the college players.
Once he realized that college was his calling, he made the decision to stay in college for good. He no longer had the NFL carrot dangling in front of him. He tried, didn't work, so he decided to go back to the college ranks.

I think the same may happen with Rhule. I think it would be great if he came to LSU. His resume at Baylor is pretty good for a program coming out of the scandal and had dropped off so much. I think if he goes back to the college ranks, he will be there for good and be like Saban and stay put for the bulk of his career or till retirement.

This would be awesome for LSU to get a top coach that will be there for 15 yrs and keep the team at a high level. I would think SW is looking for that type of person.
Rhule might be in that equation because of this possibility. I've talked myself into hoping it is Rhule.

Why on God's green Earth would someone leave an NFL HC position to come to LSU

Ever hear of a guy named Bobby Petrino? Yea he left an NFL HC job for freaking Arkansas. Let that sink in first before you ask this question….

It's almost like something happened prior to him arriving that really hurt the 2017 team.

As Chicken hinted earlier. Its all about timing. 2yrs into a pro HC position from college is enough to know whether you belong in the pros or college. 2yrs is all it took for the greatest coach in college football to figure the NFL wasn’t for him.

Matt Rhule's college record as a HC was 47-43. He was 19-20 at Baylor.

I thought he'd have a better record than that

You weighed 352 lbs yr 1, 300 lbs yr 2, and 200 lbs yr 3. So your average weight is 284 lbs., 84 lbs heavier than your last weigh in. So referring to you as a 284 pounder is misleading.

You realize you literally hired a sitting NFL coach who after 2 years decided he was better off in college, right?

Or are you just nervous
