Out of context stats are my favorite thing.
But not when it comes to Mel Tucker. Interesting…

I'm still waiting for someone to provide context to what I put up.
What is the context that explains his "come in, defense gets worse, leaves, defense gets better" pattern at almost every stop he's had?
I want to be convinced on Tucker, because I want to be excited if he's the hire, so enlighten me.

If you actually watch and know college football there’s tons context whenever a new coach joins a program. You have roster turnover, new schemes, poor depth/quality depth, COVID, etc.
Program rebuilds don’t happen overnight. The same context you’re using to evaluate Rhule and his 47-43 college HC record should be applied to Tucker and his 14-12 college HC record.

That might explain why his units regressed initially, but doesn't explain why 1)they stayed regressed and, more importantly, 2) they always improved when he left.
Shouldn't the "new coach joining" context mean that defenses of the coach that takes over for Tucker are worse than Tucker's?

Not including the NFL and the college rebuild year (1st year) how many times has Tucker’s defense regressed and/or fallen out of the Top 15?
