Waiting until the day of the egg bowl to announce he’s staying and probably pic up some momentum to finish up the year. Typical Lane

Then losing to Moo State, now that’s Ole Miss style

I mean in this day and age of CFB, I can see OM point. Ultimately they must know he’s gone and want to able to publicly get into the coaching search.
Unfortunately with the calendar CFB has and the transfer portal, you can’t let a coach actually coach after he’s officially a coach for another program.
This is just the messy reality of CFB now. If LK does leave, he won’t be the last coach to leave a playoff bound team.

I said when all this NIL/portal mess started: eventually, star players on playoff teams will start opting out. There’s no ‘team’ concept anymore, just “ME” and chasing the next big thing.

No different with coaches. It’s ruined CFB.

I'd say an employeer has the right to make you decide quicker than stringing everyone along

choose and move on

it's a big decision but sometimes people need a push

I don’t believe there are any deadlines. Lane has a contract already. He doesn’t have to do anything. What is Ole Miss going to do? Fire their best coach in the last 50 years? lol, no way

Ole Miss has ZERO leverage in any of this, lol. They’re running around issuing ultimatums when they know that this guy is by the best Coach they’ve ever had and will do anything to keep him.

Are they going to fire Lane if he just does nothing? I have to admit that would be something to see.

No.

They’ll just take the extension/raise off the table.

Your move, Lane.
