Cleveland has interviews scheduled with several candidates for the head coaching vacancy but are doing “arduous legwork on Malzahn and Franklin,” according to La Canfora, and are “very intrigued by them,” with some sources saying that Malzahn is the the most likely to land the job in Cleveland.

I suppose it's possible. From HS head coach to NFL head coach in 8 years is pretty crazy though. Could be Sexton being Sexton though. I've read elsewhere that he is close to Haslem.

I'm labeling this rumor as a joke.

Even as great as Gus Malzahn has been during his two seasons as a head coach at the college level, who in the hell would hire him as the head coach of an NFL team at this point?

Plus, Cleveland has already hired a defensive coordinator. Why would Gus Malzahn want to coach somewhere without his guys?

Makes little to no sense...

Not saying this is a factor but it could be that an owner of a NFL team wants to try something new. That coupled with him being a Tennessee booster who could use that to weaken a SEC school. He's a pretty successful guy and I'm sure he didn't get there by be nice on the playground.

NFL teams don't alway let their coaches build the staff. The article said the reason they hired Schwartz was because if they do get Malzahn they want him surrounded by NFL experience. If he ever wants to go to the next level he'll have to deal with that because no owner is going to let a coach with an offense like that and no NFL experience do whatever he want.

Has ITAT accused the REC of getting to these reporters and forcing them to tweet these rumors as an elaborate plan to distract Auburn for the BCS title game yet?

Don't act like you don't check that site everyday. We count on you telling us what they're saying.

What you fail to see is we are talking the Browns here...not much they do makes sense.

I am not the one starting this and it isn't all coming from people with an agenda either.

Not my fault if you don't like this.

I don't see Gus going to browns. I don't see them offering and, if they did, I don't see him accepting. That's not a good team for his O.

He's likely at AU for years. The people wanting him to get the browns job aren't doing so out of "fear of Gus", but out of desire to see the AU fans melt. That's all.

Franklin or Malzahn would be great choices for Cleveland. Mcdaniels...no

Good coaches are good coaches no matter where they are. I do think Malzahn could adapt for an NFL offense.

McDaniels is on ok coach who got fast-tracked way too early. Still needs to grow some

I don't see Malzahn leaving personally unless he has some strange desire to try out the NFL. I wouldn't be shocked if he went due to him being on a natural trajectory he has been on. I'd be suprised if he left though unless he is unhappy as is suggested about Saban by LSU and Auburn fans the last 7 years.

I don't understand why anybody would want to coach in Cleveland.

I get wanting to coach in the NFL, but Cleveland?

He is nothing more than an offensive coordinator. When he was a head coach, the power went straight to his head and he rubbed all of the players the wrong way. He also made terrible personnel moves that took Denver a while to overcome. If anyone wants to hire him after what took place in Denver, good luck to them.

I don't blame the Browns. I don't think Gus will go but, if he did - good for him. It's life when you have one of the best coaches and offensive minds in football.

This is just stupid. He's a high school coach. There's no way he's leaving for a college job.
