An employee trying to get the highest salary possible for doing his job is not extortion.

Extortion: the practice of obtaining something, esp. money, through force or threats

It certainly flirts with extortion if he did indeed sign a "new" contract in March. It gets even closer to the line when he (and/or his agents) engage another entity for the sole purpose of renegotiating the aforementioned "new" contract by means of a threat (real or implied) to leave Alabama and go to Texas.

Is it criminal - No.
Is is ethical - No.
Is it being unfair to Alabama - Yes.
Is it typical Saban - Yes.

Saban's so-called failure in the NFL is vastly overblown. He improved his team in season one, then a failed physical made him lose out on the Drew Brees sweepstakes. Things fell apart at the end of season 2. But his two-year record is better than Bill Belichick or Pete Carroll's first two years.

He may be terrible in the NFL and he may become a great coach. The truth is he hasn't had enough time yet.

McMurphy's source is most likely McCarron. Alabama finalizing yet another contract doesn't mean dick.

So wait, y'all believe him about the Mack stuff but now that he says the Saban deal is dead, he isn't as credible?

I hope some more info breaks because I am using this thread and the Jameis shite to procrastinate going Christmas shopping.

It's too cold and I hate Christmas shopping. People in stores this time of year make me stabby.

100% agree, but some of the things reported would be hard to just pull out of the air. I am having just as much fun as the rest just waiting for some real information

If him staying at bama are true and the finalizations as well.

New extension
Lose to Auburn
Newer contract when UT contacts him
Rewrite even newer contract when UT apparently ups the offer

I think that goes over the line

You keep bringing up losing to Auburn. Losing to Auburn was disappointing. But the season was not. Bama is 11-1, in a BCS bowl, and barring a major upset by OU, will finish #2 in the country. This was not a bad season. You can't win every single game. Don't be ridiculous.
