do you guys (esp. bama guys) think ns has any heart at all and would he consider (in his decision making process) going to ut would open up the bama coaching job for smart who have been a loyal asst. for 10 years. or he doesn't give a shite about smart. also, what would smart do if ns signs a NEW 5 year contract. would smart be gone after 1 more year max.

Holy shite, I never said it did.

McMurphy said sources close to Saban say he is staying and finalizing a new contract this weekend. That's it.

And if I had to guess, if a contract was finalized last week but Texas offered more then Alabama was forced to up their contract, hence another round of "finalizing".

Now finalize doesn't even sound like a real word to me any more.

McMurphy mentioned other candidates as well - Les Miles, Gus Malzahn, Gundy, and one of the Harbaughs, I forget which one.

Oh yeah.

There is a thread on the MSB and some of us did a play by play.

If what she claims is true, TPD is fuuuuuucked up.

Mack Brown has agreed to retire. It's done. He's not fighting. He's not trying to muck things up for Saban. He's done as a head coach at Texas and will be compensated handsomely. As we've reported for the last two days, he will announce his retirement this weekend. It goes down Saturday, most likely.

As for Nick Saban, it's not a done deal but it looks great. Red McCombs is money whipping St. Nick.

Everyone relax.

I'm heading out to go buy my kid a G.I. Joe with a kung-fu grip.

So was the first contract finalizing because they knew he was talking to UT?
