Also I'm not sure they'd want to hire a reptilian from the moon of a gas giant in a distant starcluster who is dressing up in a human suit.

I would be sad to see Les go. I really like our coach and I feel hes unappreciated by our fans and is much better than they give him credit for.

He would get another top 10 coaching gig if he left. No doubt in my mind.

this is completely accurate. something must come from the Texas and/or Mack camp before anything comes from the Saban camp or #itsnothappening.

From McPhaul over at Hornsports: 12:01pm

Here is what I'm being told.

As I said, Mack is asking for a lot of $ to exit. More than has been contractually agreed upon. Mack has us between a rock and a hard place because he knows he will not be fired. On the Texas side, we just want this thing done but, it is going to cost us.

The releasing of Macks resignation by ESPN has assisted us by making it national news. This prevents Mack Brown from drawing the timeline out any further. Now Mack has to start telling people about his plans to retire, could the releasing of this news by ESPN be premeditated by the Power Brokers to put an end to Mack drawing this out further than Thursday? I would not doubt it.

As I said earlier, as early as Wednesday, no later than Thursday. It is now looking like Thursday.

The other side of this exit contract is the new position Mack is going to transition to. As we have heard from our good friends at Inside Texas, Mack is looking for a similar position that DKR held as assistant to the President. Mack will bring in 1 mill a year in this position.

Here is the PROBLEM. One of the Main stipulations the Saban camp had concerning accepting the HC job at Texas, was Mack cannot be in a position to meddle. As you can see, Mack is positioning himself to do just that. The Saban camp does want that cloud of a tattle tail Mack Brown in the President's ear while they are trying to resurrect the program. The Saban camp is acutely aware that Nick runs a program far different program than Mack does.

I hope this does not end up costing us Saban?

I know this is an hour old, but I'm not wading back through anything to see if it's posted (yeah, I'm lazy)

I also know this tweeter has been quoted in this thread before so I thought I'd add this

quote:

beingreal ?@tex09413171 1h Finally able to fully confirm Mack Brown replacement plan. Brown to remain at Texas in advisory role. Saban expected to remain at Bama (pt1)

(pt2)In order to replace Mack Brown,David Shaw,Charlie Strong,Les Miles. Charlie Strong will be primary target and most likely after Saban.

Definitely, the worst part about losing Saban is you know whoever comes next will in all likelihood be a downgrade (even if we pulled a Harbaugh/Gruden/Smart/Parcells)

We know how that is. Miles gets a bad rap from our fans, but he hasn't exactly run the ship into the ground. He had 2 rough years in 08 and 09, but he had definitely stabilized things since. When you look at it, he has done at least as well as, if not better than Saban did while he was here.

It will be even worse for Bama when Saban leaves (whenever that is) because he was consistently great, where he had rebuilding years at LSU in 02 and 04. I don't think anyone in coaching could be expected to come anywhere close to that level considering how tough the SEC is right now. That's not meant as a knock on Bama, either. It's just the probably reality of life after a legend leaves.
