Mack Brown at Another School?

So since the consensus seems to be that Saban avoided UT to avoid booster involvement, does anybody feel like Mack Brown's record might be suffering as a result of booster involvement? If so, were he to leave Texas after this disastrous week, am I the only that thinks he might have a better shot at success at another big name school?

I think he is suffering because of bad coordinator hires and the fact that he can't seem to find a QB.
Garrett Gilbert was supposed to be an extremely good QB coming out of high school and that did not turn out well.
I think if Mack isn't the coach at Texas next season than he isn't coaching anywhere. He is just too old to start somewhere new.

This. I could possibly see him going somewhere smaller where the expectations wouldn't be as high and he would be appreciated more. He is a good coach but not someone who can have a BCSNC contending team every year.

I think he's a little old to be given the reigns at a big-time program. I could see him coaching at a smaller school, if that's what he wants to do, but I think he could have real success on television. He seems like an amiable guy with a positive personality.

After the first few drives against Bama in the '09 BCSNC game, he looked pretty damn good. Texas was damn close to having a chance to win. Don't know what happened to the guy.

62 isn't really that old for a HC.

Boy, he sure looks older. ETA: Guess they can't all dye their hair.

He transferred to SMU. I know this because of a ridiculous 2 pt conversion he pulled off earlier this year.

It would be for someone to be chosen as a long-term solution at a program, but then again he wouldn't have to be hired in that capacity. He could be a good transitional coach.
Imagine Freeze to Texas, then Brown to Ole Miss.

A&M has whooped up on Gilbert Grape the past couple of years.

Agreed. It's hard to believe him and Saban are the same age.

Looks like Brown is staying at Texas.
LINK
I think saban was their man. Once he turned them down, they are going to stay with what they have, for now.

Texas fans want Mack gone because the game has passed him by and is too old start over but then were willing to sell their souls and barrels of oil to get Saban.
When they are the same age.
Silly Texans.
Being the head coach at Texas is like being the President - it ages a man quicker than shite.

I think Brown's record is suffering because he is a lazy recruiter and Texas having a poor defensive coordinator. I'd bet Saban puts 4 times more effort in recruiting than Brown.

Didn't Mack only sign 14 players last NSD? Maybe that 2005 NC is turning him into the Big 12's version of Fulmer. Resting on the belief that past success will maintain itself.
