Couple quick things..

Anyone realize that Luke Fickell & the #2 Cincinnati Bearcats are coming to play Tulane in New Orleans during LSU's bye week next week?

Regarding Mel Tucker, What happens when he gets blown out by #6 Mich, #5 Ohio St, #7 Penn St., or all 3? If Michigan State ends the season with 3 losses or more... He ain't coming here.

Good work. No one else has noticed this and it hasn't been discussed at all!

I don't want Tucker, but I think finishing 9-3 with a bowl game still to play in year two of that train wreck is fantastic.

They will also lose to Purdue. That will make them 8-4 for the season with possibility of going 9-4 with a bowl win. They will spin this as an outstanding turn around from the 2-5 season the year before. He probably wins coach of the year for the Big 10.

And the next season Tucker will be 7-6 at MSU if he stays. This is where he will stay unless he lucks into an easy schedule again.

With that said, Tucker would be a terrible hire for LSU and would set the program back another 5 years.

What if he wins a couple of those? Does that make him a qualified candidate in your eyes?

Mel is not my top choice, but from what I understand, he's one of the hardest working coaches and recruiters around.

As long as SW does his homework and Mel was hired for the right reasons, I have no problem with it.

Eh maybe or it could really work out. Either way he isn’t getting the job

Actually, yes. If he adds some quality wins in there (a couple of those ranked teams) & competes in the others, then yeah I think he is probably capable of winning alot of games in the SEC with LSU's talent.

Mel is not even in my top 3 or 4 right now, but I'll wait and see if he proves me wrong.

Neither should be on the list of candidates

Pretty close to how I feel. I actually think he may win at least 1 of the 3.

I agree and even if he wins 2/3 or all three and makes the big ten championship game and playoffs MSU will match any offer from LSU and then he stays at MSU where the expectations are reasonable and you can make the playoffs as Dantonio did.

Those schedules are quite comparable. Nice job.

Tucker has one year cycle of recruiting. He's playing with Dantonio's players. Give him time.

Not sure what you're implying there, but this was not a comparison. Pretty obvious that the AAC is not even close to the BIG10/SEC. I'm more of a wait & see guy on almost every candidate right now, but especially these two.

If Fickell wins out, I'd like to see how he does in a playoff game against Bama/UGA. However, I think LSU will have their HC before 12/31.

If Mel Tucker gets blown out in 3 games then I’ll change my tune on him but as it stands, he’s a solid top 4

I think Cincy is going to the playoffs this year. SMU is the only team on their schedule that presents an obvious challenge (and even then, if Cincy keeps winning, they will be favored in that game).

If he gets blown out, but if that happens you’re not wrong

Mel Tucker has done nothing to warrant serious consideration as LSU's head coach. How you come to the analysis of "solid Top 4" without mentioning non-football qualifications is beyond me.
