re: LSU, the coaching talent pool is shallow

Miles had plateaued at LSU. This was his most talented team in years and after 4 games (really just one) it was clear he refused to make the necessary adjustments to possibly bring LSU from a perennial 2+ loss team. LSU could have kept Miles for another 10 years and the play on the field would have been the same. He refused to acknowledge his approach was wrong and that's why he's out of a job.

As far as the next guy is concerned, who knows who the "homerun" hire will be? It's very likely that LSU won't get the perceived "homerun" coach. However, the last two hires weren't met with great fanfare, yet they seemed to work out ok. LSU has some built-in advantages to make it a place where good coaches can win.

Stupidity spouted off by someone who was either not alive in the 80's or has no idea about the history of LSU football.

Bo Rein was hired to coach the 1980 season. He died before ever coaching a game which left LSU in an unexpected scramble mode. Stovall stepped in and did a pretty good job getting guys to come here. Unfortunately, he wasn't that great of a coach. LSU then hired an older pro coach (Arnsbarger) to come in. He did a great job with Stovall's talent, but didn't care about recruiting. Joe Dean then made 3 successive cheap hires (Archer, Hallman and Dinardo). Once LSU decided to spend some money and make football a monetary priority (with the formation of TAF), things took off. Saban wasn't cheap and LSU spent a ton to upgrade the facilities. When Miles was hired, LSU made it a point to continue upgrading the facilities AND pay a ton for assistant coaches.

I don't know who LSU is going to eventually hire, but I'm confident they will devote significant resources to whoever they get. The only way LSU goes back to the 90's is if they get hit with serious probation (which crippled powerhouses like Oklahoma, USC, and Alabama for a time), or they decide to stop spending money

ONLY won 3 conference titles at FSU

ONLY won one natty at FSU

ONLY had a 29 game win streak

ONLY made the playoffs the very next year at FSU

ONLY had coached at least 8 QB's who have played pro ball. 4 first rounders.

you really do not think he can win the west every 3 years? which at least has us contending often? unlike what miles had done since 2011? really?

New names pop up every year. Even the Jimbo fans are wavering. The ones that aren't think his team is underperforming because he's on his way to br, which is bush league.
