Sources tell FootballScoop that LSU is seeking to add a defensive coordinator from the ACC to wrap up their defensive staff rebuild. Daronte Jones has been hired as defensive coordinator but multiple spots remain to be filled.

Miami defensive coordinator Blake Baker is a top target of Ed Orgeron’s to join the Tigers staff, sources have shared. While Baker’s role is not yet clear, a co-defensive coordinator / linebackers role may be in play.

It appears that "title" is to justify his salary

LSU fans aren't smart enough for that kind of nuance.

Malleveto failed in 2008, so all co-DC arrangements will fail ad infinitum.

Well Jones has just been officially announced as “defensive coordinator”

If this was the plan all along wouldn’t you make it official once Baker was on board

First bad game will be because "too many cooks in the kitchen. If two people are in charge, no one is in charge."

Despite the fact that co-DC and OC arrangements exist all over college football, but there is always really on one. The "co" is usually just for salary and retention purposes.

Yep. I like this possible hire. His recruiting area of Houston and Louisiana. LSU gets Randall Joyner on board hopefully that's some firepower.

I'm not saying this is true, but go look at Ohio State.

Kerry Coombs is the DC. Greg Mattison, who just retired, is the co-DC. Note, Coombs has no "co" before his name, because he is the actual DC.

He may work out as a LB coach, but Miami fans certainly do not care about his departure. Alot of them want him gone.

I sure hope so, for your previous HC to take play calling duties from you, it had to be bad, Lol

Make a list of fanbases who are happy with their DC. It's a very short list.

Modern's offenses make it very hard on defensive coordinators, so even in a "good" game you are giving up a lot of yardage.

I would say 2/3 of the defensive coordinators in the SEC would not survive a fan poll.
