Congrats to coach Porter. Hopefully Memphis was listening to what West was saying on his way out and puts Porter in a position to be successful.

+1 No matter how good of a coach and recruiter he is if the support ppl inside and outside the program don't buy into what he is trying to do it is doomed to fail.
That being said I wish him all the luck in the world, would be interesting to get memphis on the schedule.

He should not finish the year. Two reasons, he is now the Head Football Coach at Memphis and that is where his loyalties are now and it is not fair to LSU or Memphis if he is "splitting" time doing both.

Is Porter the best Memphis could find? No offense to the guy but hes a RB coach who has never been a coordinator or head coach.
I was hearing lots of names from Tommy Tubberville to even Ed Orgeron.

i get the point of wanting to have that somewhere in a coaches background before they become a HC. but, maybe it doesn't have to apply in all cases. was Urban Meyer ever a coordinator before becoming a HC? what about Derek Dooley?
