LA is such a different place culturally than Norman OK. You probably are thinking “Thanks Captain Obvious” But so many dimensions of his life, including his family life, are going to be impacted by this move. If his wife isn’t from SoCal, where this will be an easy transition for her & kids, I’d say this was not a great choice on his part.

Nah, it made perfect sense. He's been heavily recruiting california over the last year.

Pac 12 is literally the Big 12, and he gets to keep it easy.

There were also issues within the AD and him.

Riley is from a tiny town in Texas and he played at Texas Tech under Leach.

Its going to be a massive cultural shock.

He's a very religious person as well, or at least he appears to be.

Actually, he'll get paid a lot of money to play in a conference that is easier to win in than the SEC and coach at a school that has less expectation because they really don't care that much. They'll fire a coach if he doesn't win, but you have to really be terrible. He was getting away from SEC plain and simple.

It’s not Grand Isle, but it’ll do.

You don't think somebody with as much money as Riley hasn't been to LA multiple times to know what the culture is like? I'm sure it's not going to phase him or his family. I'm sure they are fully aware what's is like to live there.

They'll get over it by being extremely rich people in LA. Posts like these show how backwards TD posters are. Many many more people would rather be rich and famous in LA than Norman, OK or BR.

It's really simple. He doesn't want to coach in the SEC. He's afraid of the competition, because SEC teams have taken him to the woodshed and slaughtered him all three times he made the playoffs.

LSU is in the SEC. Oklahoma is going into the SEC.

Not only didn't he want our job (and it's uncertain whether he even had the opportunity to take it), he didn't want his current job under the threat of having to coach in the SEC.

Going there to recruit is much different than living there full time. Plus, his wife and kids weren't with him.
