If you ever see an AD come out during the season and make a statement regarding the team... a decision has been made.

Lets not live in denial.

right, because Strong could still win out and likely win the Big 12. If UT loses to OU, the season probably spirals out of control from there. If Strong is fired, and Herman is the main target, will be interesting to see how things play out if Houston makes the playoffs.

Can the Admin whack all Herman threads? He is now a Texas lock.

Sucks for LSU, damnit.

This would be one of the stupidest ways things to do if true. If you want to fire the guy, fricking fire him now. They are setting themselves up for Charlie to win some games and put them in an awkward position to either back out of what they said, or fire the coach of a hot team.

Nothing is a lock at this stage. USC may hold quite some allure for Herman also.

No, it's true. Look at the NFL draft the few years before Mack left and after.

Wow, you're not really a longhorns fan, are you?

Highly unlikely we win out of course...but I think OU will be the tipping point if it's bad (especially if it's "Mack Brown OU" bad). But last year, Texas had just lost 50 something at TCU then goes and beats OU. So this week will be telling.

Houston making the playoffs would certainly complicate matters from the standpoint that there goes a month or so where Strong is the coach but knows he's out...recruiting in limbo etc. There are certainly some Texas fans that are now big LVille fans for that November game in Houston.

Frankly, the losses aren't the issue so much with Strong as HOW the losing is occurring. If you could chalk most of them up to talent deficit/young talent, I'd be fine with that. But there are so many issues independent of those (which are there as well). At the end of the day, when I ask myself if I see Strong ever winning a NC (hell, just getting to playoffs) at Texas, the answer is no. More people are coming to that realization as well.

Unless you are at LSU -- at LSU, in Year 3 all kudos and praise go to the prior coach.

Even if he somehow manages to beat OU, the Longhorns still have to play Baylor, K-State, WVU, TTU, and TCU. That's no easy task.

Yep -- last year there were numerous reports that he'd be happy going to either Texas or A&M, and many predicted a bidding war... well, A&M is doing well, which leaves Austin as his landing spot.

I'm glad none of you wimps are in charge of LSU's coaching search. Alleva is going to go after Herman regardless of what happens with Texas.

And he'll get him dammit.

Thats a pretty shitty time to fire a coach. 2015 and 2016 he has good recruiting classes. Canning him this soon will not look good, but winning does cure that
