re: Looks Like Texas is positioning themselves to fire strong.

They are demoting the defensive coordinator and Strong will now call plays LINK

They aren't firing strong if he has 4 losses or less. Texas would be ridiculous to do so. He's been there only 3 years, not even long enough to get recruiting flowing again, or at least he just now started to gain momentum.

He will have less wins in his 3 years than Mack Brown did in his last 3 seasons
Mack Brown went 5-7 in a season.

This is Strong's 3rd year. He hasn't done shite. It's over. Most elite coaches show something by year three
Really? What was saban like in his third year at LSU? Ooh yeah, he went 8-5.....
Mack Brown left the cupboard pretty bare, and strong came in and got rid of a bunch of guys already there.

You called it. Strong has taken over DC duties. Bedford demoted...not sure why he wasn't fired.
Posted on 10/3/16 at 4:50 am to Just_Fight_Baby
because bedford is strongs butt buddy. Charlie is coaching for his job this week.
Posted on 10/3/16 at 5:13 am to Just_Fight_Baby
Charlie is somewhat safe for now... if he beats OU it'll save the season no matter what.
Posted on 10/3/16 at 5:13 am to Hook Em Horns
It's like Charlie doesn't want to fire Vance because their good friends and hurt his reputation.

Some people just don't want to accept the idea that Herman would actually choose another school over LSU.

Lol, dude Saban won the SEC Championship (by beating #2 Tennessee) and winning the Sugar Bowl over the Big Ten Champion....IN YEAR 2
Eta: I said elite coaches show something BY YEAR THREE not ON YEAR THREE

I like how everyone is reaching in making a case for Strong so Texas wont snag their boy.
BUT you guys know good and well if your coach was a defensive guy and you allowed nearly 100 points in 2 games youd be up in arms with the pitchforks

This is complete BS. Do some actual research. Go back and look at those last 5 Mack Brown recruiting classes. Texas had one of the country's highest concentrations of talent when Strong arrived.

Again, go look at the actual recruiting rankings. They had one really bad recruiting year - the transition year - aside from that, they've recruited very well. They have a coach who doesn't know he should accept an ineligible receiver downfield penalty when declining it would mean a 1st down for the opposing offense.

well, I look at the draft and not many texas players have been drafted the last three four years.
Texas had zero draftees last year, the first time that had happened since 1937. The Longhorns haven't had an offensive player go in the first round since Vince Young in 2006, and they have had just one offensive player go as high as the second round since '07.
yeah, Mack left strong a lot of talent

I think Herman to LSU prospects will make them move on Strong abnormally fast.
They are faced with a choice - keep Strong and risk the future (losing Herman forever) or grabbing Herman now.

That speaks to how horribly Strong has done developing players.
If you want a good example of exactly how this happens, look no further than Malik Jefferson. All-world LB recruit who every big program wanted 2 years ago. Phenomenal athleticism. He's an OLB. Charlie stuck him at MLB, which he's physically not suited for, where his true talents can't shine, and the whole defense has been horrid, his inept DL is letting OL smash his face in, and now he's lost out there and unmotivated. He's going unnoticed now. If this continues, he'll be lucky to be a late-round project guy, whereas at LSU or A&M or Alabama, he would have been a first-rounder after a heralded college career at outside linebacker.

He did. Strong ran off a lot of it when he arrived with his whole Idi Amin act (freshmen and sophomores have to live in the dorms, injured players have to fill sandbags in "the pit", etc.) and then he squandered the rest. The man didn't even teach them how to handle the coin toss. They screwed up the coin toss for crying out loud. He's his own special teams coach and they had 3 blocked kicks in one game. There's no coaching going on.

LSU needs to try to wrap up Herman fast before UT comes into the picture.
If UT comes knocking, Herman will go to UT. Even though the recruiting and talent isn't up to the same level as LSU. I think Herman feels he can turn that around pretty quick and in a weak Big 12 he probably feels he could win the Big 12 in 1 or 2 years. Plus I think the recruiting makes a sharp tick upward as soon as he is announced the HC of UT.
UT may have already dropped a bug in TH's agent's ear and Herman try to make us wait to see what UT does.
I'm wondering if there is a change TH would stay at UH if they are voted into the Big 12.
LSU needs to throw "can't say no" money at him and convince him that they have the talent to win a NC now before UT gets in the mix.

Strong needs athletic DBs. The south, especially South Florida, has that.
And the state of Texas doesn't?
