Wisc officially posted their [link=(HR link)]https://jobs.hr.wisc.edu/en-us/job/516218/head-football-coach[/link] for a new coach, but... its pretty obvious it is done

Bryan Fischer @BryanDFischer · 2m Wisconsin needs to do their standard HR process given state laws but… posting the job opening for just seven days and saying candidates won’t get confidentiality despite using Turnkey tells you that the job is Jim Leonard’s after next week.

That’s called mailing it in with “one of us”. Been there done that with O. They beat Nebraska by 1 point today.

The offensive side of the ball, which was Chryst's domain, needs a complete overhaul. Meaning coaches.

While they don't look great, and many simply are not due to crappy recruiting, they are playing hard which they were not doing under Chryst.

The team essentially quit on Chryst and that is why he was fired midseason.

Blaming an interim coach for not blowing out teams while being saddled with the same coaches and players that got the other guy fired seems rather ridiculous.

Especially when you still have to run their offense. I remember that from when O took over from Les. The team was talented enough that just a breath of fresh air was able to improve the team, but they were hampered by the offense.

Big 10 schools love their “one of us” coaches. Remember Michigan and their obsession with “Michigan Men”

Completely different situation. Leonard is actually a hot name in coaching and will have other offers and opportunities.

Orgeron had nothing.

They still have that obsession it’s just working for them this season. Midwesterners love nothing more than being able to look at a fellow pasty, miserable looking, thick skulled yankee roaming around their sidelines

Should have gotten Lance Leipold and moved Wisconsin into this century offense wise

I will be very surprised if all of the offensive coaches, other than possibly Whitted, are not replaced by Leonhard.

The only real concern I have with Jimmy is recruiting. At least he knows it's important. I just don't know how good he is himself. Needs to bring in coaches that are great at it.

Yes, I have no doubt that when Ferentz is finally gone Iowa will look to hire Bielema.

He's an Iowa man and runs a ground and pound offense that they love.

Wisconsin doesn't produce the athletes to run that type of offense. That state can only produce offensive linemen.

No, but Kansas can raid the JUCO ranks. Andersen wanted to do that at UW but admissions wasn’t having it.

I’m on board with Leonhard. I feel with his NFL experience he should have a broad base on contacts to build a good staff.

Only Whitted and Bostad have a chance to back on offense. Chris Haering should be fired ASAP.

And to some others points, this offense needs a total rebuild, coaches and players. I’m assuming the bulk of D coaches are hired back and I’m guessing Bobby April gets the DC gig and he deserves the chance. The LBs have consistently good under him.

Not sure how much he’s been asked to do the recruiting front but he’s young with NFL experience, so the tools are there to get in the door, granted the dynamics are so different in the NIL era.
