Says that the best option for OC is....
....Les Miles.
He thinks that with a competent qb coach to help out JJ and Mett, Miles could take over the offense (if he allegedly hadn't already) and there would be no question as to what system they want to run.
I know its not a new idea, but what do you guys think? I'm definitely not sold on the idea...

I think we ned to commit to one style. I also think Miles will never fully commit to a spread/passing offense, so this makes sense to me.

don't think its smart. The head coach has all kinds of other responsibilities during the game. I dont think he needs to be calling plays as well.

Dude! You questioning the HAT's ability to multitask?!!

Maybe Les should just hire an OC that suits his styles. Then rather than having a pro/option/spread/cluster eff offense, we can just run one offense that everyone can get on board with. If Les needs to change a play on the fly, he can do so and it will still fit with the scheme rather than send one group on the field and change the play to something requiring a totally different group of players a la UT game.

Amen.

Hanagriff has been on this for awhile it's more a case of him wanting one person in change with one style. Since he thinks Les is too hard headed not to meddle in the offense even if Bill Walsh was the coord. Therefore Miles should be the OC not so much b/c he would be a good one but at least they would have one style. Honestly what do they have to lose it can't get any worse....
It's like when Napoleon was ask early in his career to share a command with basically a political appointee and he threatened to quit stating “one bad general is better than two great ones”. IMO like almost very thing Napoleon said (at least in reference to military issues) this is very true.

Yeah, like superior clock management.

I may be wrong and if I am that's fine. To this point I feel Les has his hands all over the offense and the results speak for themself. So I will say whoever the OC is Miles needs to leave them alone, just like he does with Chavis. If i'm wrong so be it

Crowton and Miles could switch positions.

Apparently managing the clock is not one of them.

You think Crowton is a BAD OC, have you seen his results as a head coach. Miles may not be an OC, but he has done a pretty decent job as head coach.

Just have someone who sees eye to eye. Mark Whipple for example I think would be a great hire for us.

you usually see a HC who is also an offensive genius be his own OC.
yeah, that doesn't fit at LSU.

I'm all for it. get Mike Bobo in here as QB coach and let er rip!

Chew some cud, clap the palms together a few times, and give a couple of headscratcher interviews at the half to the tv/radio folks. I think Les can work it in somehow (plus I'd like his style of offense).

Taking into account your self professed dislike for Les I'd say this to you.
If you retain Gonzo (didn't do much for us this year at all) as "passing" co then what's left to do?
I think Les has been creative enough and I would like us to just be a pro style O with maybe some "pistol" worked in.
With Mett on board let Gonzales work a passing game and Les can more than handle the run game. Get a great qb coach and I think we have a Championship formula. All you haters are gonna blame Les no matter what so why not be his own OC?
