Didn't know that. Yep that's a no-go.

The new coach will be one of these men:

Aranda
Napier
Brady
Campbell
Fickell
Kiffin
Petersen
O'Brien
Freeze
Riley

Forget the rest.

Good list but I would add Franklin. Not because I think he'll be the coach but because I think he'll be looked into and he would be a solid hire.

I don't see Franklin leaving his home state. Makes no sense. PSU was his destination job.

Old-timers: Who best matches up to Bill Arnsparger?

26-8-2 (13-3-2) SEC Coach of the Year (1984, 1986)

Man... I liked that guy...

Anyone ever thought of Paul Chryst, Wisconson as a possible candidate (an offensive/QB coach)? Just looking at the various comments from supposed insiders and the fact that we know Woody always uses high profile smoke to screen his real candidates that are usually not discussed...

Just a name you could add to long shots. Dana holgerson, it’s not happening but I’ve become enamored with thinking of someone you haven’t put down

I don’t think woody uses smoke screens on purpose, I think he meets with and talks to a lot of people and when he knows they aren’t his guy then he doesn’t hide the fact that he met with them

Even if Fickell wanted the job, I just don’t see how the timeline would work out. Unless they have a historic collapse, his Cincy team will either be in the CFB Playoff or at least playing in a Big Bowl. He wouldn’t announce he was leaving until after all that was done. That puts us waiting until sometime in January 2022 before announcing our next HC. This Simply makes getting him Nearly Impossible in any scenario.

Currently, my choice would be Hugh Freeze. Since this seems unlikely, I am really high on James Franklin.

It should be exciting around here for the next few weeks!

Same here, its sent me off on a hunt for unnamed but sustained successful offensive based head coaches. Also thought of the guy out of Utah, but he's a defensive coach...

Mike Tomlin of the Steelers seems to be getting some credible mentions.

Joe Brady would be cool but that may require an experienced assistant head coach. Any ideas there?
