Would Matt Campbell be the most underwhelming hire? What’s everyone’s thoughts on this guy?

I think it would be an extremely solid hire! Not as big of a name as the other names so many fans will judge it based off of that.

I think that Bob Stoops is going to be the next coach at LSU. He has won a NC and played for at least two others. No buyout. When he wins a NC at LSU pay him $1 more than the highest paid college coach.

Count me in on thinking it’s Bob stoops. If you asked me to put money on who it’ll be, I’d have 60% of my money on Bob stoops and 40% on Napier

I think it would be a pretty good hire, but not the best that could be made.
A very good friend is an Iowa State grad and Aimes, Iowa native. He is used to sweating it out following each football season, thinking someone will hire Matt Campbell. That will indeed happen some day.

I’m with you, that’s who I’m thinking it’s gonna be.
I’ve irrationally melted in a couple other threads about it possibly being Bob Stoops, but I’m slowly coming on board with it. I have my concerns about it, but I could see it working.

IF it is Stoops, why doesn't LSU go ahead and announce it so we can save some of this recruiting class. Early signing dates have implications.

Good question, and I certainly don’t have the answer, can only speculate …
Maybe they don’t want to take attention away from the current team and season? Maybe they truly haven’t decided on Stoops yet and are still considering multiple options? Maybe a little bit of both. Or maybe they’re just waiting on exactly the right time to break the news to get maximum pop?

That is what I have been thinking as well. He seems happy as a clam in lieu of somewhat mediocre on field performances. 12-15 million a year has a nice ring...err two... to it.
