Model of consistency and wins where it is hard to win. But he is an alumnus and probably won’t leave NW.

will never leave NW

This should be the #1 call.

He’s punched above his weight at NW for years. It’s not an aberration, it’s skill. With LSU’s athletes, he’d run a disciplined team with an explosive offense.

I said this a few years ago. Assuming O goes down, I’ll say it again. Fitzgerald is an excellent choice if you can pry him out of NW.

Why do I have a feeling there’d be a “Row the Pirogue” chant started?

Matt Campbell. I wouldn't want to get him and he has his up and down years. Yo Yo of a HC.

Miami is known for being cheap. He has good experience and has led Miami to a decent record each year. Not an exciting choice, but his work at Miami this year is impressive.

Holy shite, what a difference a year makes. Last year I was at the Arkansas game in Tiger Stadium laughing my arse off with my son that Miami had lost to FIU. My only thought was that Manny Diaz was in way over his head.Miami was in the midst of a miserable 6-7 season while LSU was making an argument for being the greatest team in college football history.

Here we are a year later talking about talking about him being the next coach at LSU. It 'aint happening. He's a Miami native that grew up a Canes fan and he turned the programm around. They key to success at Mimai is to build a fence around South Florida athletes and pluck an elite QB from somewhere else.

I think O should have one more year but if he is gone...

Top 3
Campbell (winning in Power 5 with less talent)
Napier (In state and local recruiting)
Fickel (Built Cincy up...not Power 5 though)

Non power 5 is a little scary because you just don't know (Herman and Fuente)

I like Campbell and Sark, but Fleck is also very interesting. He took over a Minnesota program that was left for dead and he has revived them to respectability. He's a young coach that has a proven record of rebuilding programs and appears to be very hungry. He seems like a coach that would stay at a big time program for a while and really put his stamp on the program.

A lot of the other coaches listed don't strike me as elite coaches that can survive in the SEC. The SEC is full of man eating sharks and I don't think most of them could survive in that environment. This is the SEC, not the ACC or Big Ten where average is allowed!

I don’t know if guaranteeing a contract is as important to Jimbo as being in a place he likes that has proven to be a Title contender

No offense but A&M hasn’t proven the latter and Jimbo has said how fond he is of Baton Rouge and the culture.

Plus, any coach who believes in himself knows he can get paid well at a decent program. Coaching salaries continue to go up so whose to say $7.5M is a huge deal a few years down the road.
