He certainly does look like the type of guy who used to use the “my dad is a lawyer” card before he got his arse beat. The fact that he’s objectively a pussy was probably my biggest concern about him. I think he would’ve been successful here, but with a ceiling, solely because he’s such a gigantic muff

My best guess here is the competition isn't why he doesn't want to be in the SEC. In his second career game as a HC, he took Oklahoma to Columbus and they absolutely tore #2 Ohio State apart. I don't think he's afraid of competition.
Riley was a gaping pussy last year and was adamantly against playing while the SEC was going full steam ahead. He whined incessantly about how unsafe it was to play last year. IMO, that pulled back the curtain a bit on the kind of person he is off the field.
I know we all hate when politics seep into sports, but I get the feeling that he's a far leftist and that played a big part into his decision making.
