if the treatment was as bad as the James' claim don't you think another person would come out and backup their story?
Now that Leach has been dismissed, I predict we'll soon hear Bob Ley interviewing someone else coming forward to say, "This happened to me too."

I'll bet Leach is sorry he ever let Adam on the team. From his recruiting profile, it appears TT was his only D-1 offer.

I will gladly change my opinion if that person is credible. I will have my doubts if it comes from someone who was kicked off the team for disciplinary issues or transferred because of playing time.

Now that Leach is gone. You might after the bowl game.
You can bet the higher ups went by just more than this one thing. They moved quick, found out more info to backup the story. If there was more than one story, it too was looked into. They built a case from the get-go.

Not only that, the receivers coach at TT told Leach he didn't want James - didn't think he could play. Leach overrode him and brought James on scholarship. Don't think he won't be mulling over the irony of that decision for a while.

hush your mouth I don't want that nutt job anywhere near LSU. I don't care how good his offense is. The risk isn't worth the reward.

Leach was the best thing to ever happen to that football program.
you are correct. the more i hear about this, the more i am taking Leaches side. all coaches punish players for behavioral issues (even the old fashioned run the stands deal) and while this punishment is bizarre, he did not endanger the boy. i think TT is getting ready to pay for Leaches lawyer and a good bit of the remainder of his contract. certainly no less than the 400k/yr his contract purportedly calls for. add the negative press and the real negative press when Leach sues them, this is a major bad deal for TT. look for them to plummet to last place in the Big 12 soon.

I don't think this firing had ANYTHING to do with James. It is a convenient fig leaf to fire a coach who makes a lot of money but has never won a conference title. Yes, he's brought TT national attention, but he has been unable to get over the hump. If you're gonna go 8-3 every year and not compete for titles, can't you save a few bucks?
Though I love his offense.

Love it all you want, but if you like championships you will never want it at LSU. Them type offenses never have and probably never will win big in college football.

this kid shouldn't get mistreated if he is injured.
being in a dark room is not mistreatment. there have been some things reported that may or may not be true (big surprise). we haven't heard leaches side yet nor the story from the trainers. he did not hurt the kid.

Theres too many coaches who are getting their rocks off by bullying a bunch of teenagers.
you have no proof of this nor do you have proof that leach was getting his rocks off by bullying james. all sports teams discipline players when needed (although being banished to a dark room is a new one to me). leach has coached too many years for me to assume he is perverted.

I think he was fired to prevent Leach from proving TT wrong and getting a restraining order against them this morning. I bet they honor his buy out in a few days. They dont want a long drawn out fight that will tarnish the TT rep.
As it is I dont see how they will find a decent coach that will take the job. Something is really strange about this whole deal. I think the AD is nuttier than Leach.

It's bullshite like this that just makes you wonder if there is a brain in their head.
Leach elevated the fundraising at Texas Tech to new levels, and got them recognition they had not ever had - he's the winningest coach in their program's history.
He made money for the university. To lose him is to lose his ability to do that. I agree with most other posters. Texas Tech is going to go right back to the basement of the Big 12. They will look back and wish for an 8-3 season.

I agree. I think they Texas Tech had a sandy vagina from his contract issues last year. I think they were looking to unload him.
My prediction: Kevin Sumlin of Houston

I want to be clear, I don't endorse that view, but I know a lot of Texas Tech fans, and many feel this way. My co-worker who is a huge TT fan is actually happy Leach is fired cuz he thinks he's overrated.

The spread? Because Florida seems to be doing okay with it.
Posted on 12/30/09 at 2:27 pm to Baloo
I hate when people see coaches using 3-5 wideouts as a base set and assume they are running the same offense.
Florida runs a balanced spread with a ton of formations.
Oregon runs the spread option - a running based offense.
Texas Tech runs the "Air Raid" offense. Name says it all. Houston, SMU, and a few other schools run this offense.

You have to remember TT is TT. It is hard if not impossible to compete there. TT is a Little school in the middle on no where. Literally Bump F Egypt.
I have a friend that went to school there still supports them and Loves Mike Leach. He is disowning the School because of this. He told me most TT fans idolize ML. I have a feeling that TT football is going to have a difficult time recovering from this.

Well up here in Indiana-I can see a similar situation. Now granted Bob Knight had his antics and all but was a very sucessful coach. He was given a final warning not because Miles brand wanted to keep him-because the boosters and alumni did not want to see him go. Miles had it out for Knight and was watching his every move just waiting for the moment to fire him. That moment came when a student disrespected him in the union and Knight calmly grabbed the kid by the arm and told him he should not address adults like that. Like Leach, several people including the arse. coach backed up the story about how Knight didn't get rough or out of line with the student. But...Miles used it to get rid of him. Indiana basketball has NEVER recovered and probably won't for a while. My point is when someone is out to get you...they will just like the Ad at Tech. It appears to me he needs to go as well and from what I'm hearing-both he and the president of the school may be in for a tough time over this. In fact-the Ad may just want to get out of town for a few weeks.
