So who does your co-worker think can do better at TT than what Leach did? Lubbock is a dustbowl of a small Texas town, not a great magnet for top D1 talent by itself.

Baloo you need to rethink this. Yes they both call it the spread, but come on them two offenses couldn't get more different. The spread is nothing more than the formation type.
Texas Tech's is closer the run & shoot. Florida's is balanced offense that has more incommon with the veer or wing-T than anything else.

From article on Treatment of Concussions:(1) Remain in a dimly lit, quiet environment as much as possible. Both bright lights and noise, even moderate noise can irritate post-concussion syndrome and worsen a victims headaches. In light of some of James's teammates statements, they didn't seem to hold him in high esteem. Texas Tech might just have a tiger by the tail and the tiger might just bite the hell out of them with litigation. Leach being an attorney is certainly no dummy. This will be an interesting story to follow because I think there is more bad news coming for TT and the James family.Google E-mails in support of Mike Leach and read what players and coaches feel about Mike Leach and Adams James.

Well, yeah. I know it's different, but my basic point is everyone said Meyer's offense wouldn't work in the SEC either. Oops. People always criticize what is different because football commentary is so darn conservative.
The Air Raid worked in the Big 12, so I see no reason why it couldn't work in the SEC. But there are few principles that Leach's offense adheres to that I love. Instead of Crowton, who has this massive playbook, Leach only has a few plays and multiple formations. He runs the same exact play from several different sets.
What I like about this philosophy is:
A) it's simple, and I think college offenses benefit from simplicity
B) the formation doesn't tip off the defense what you're doing
C) Constant repetition of the same play in practice leads to crisp execution.
Leach has his problems, particularly his mouth, but I far prefer his offensive philosophy to Crowton's. Needless complexity just breaks the system down.
