I’m worried as a LSU fan that we think we can get whoever we want and we ended up with O. Scott Woodard or Aleva it’s still LSU! The job is the same no matter who is doing the hiring?? Thoughts???

That's like saying no matter who posts on here it's still TigerDroppings. Some topics are better than others.. This one for instance sucks.

What’s that got to do with all these big names came up last time and we couldn’t get any of them!

Yes the job is the same but the decision on who to hire for that job and ability to find the right candidate is clearly a different variable in the equation.

We didn’t hire O because no one wanted the job. We hired O because we hardly took the time to even look anywhere else

Thank god. This whole board wanted Tom Herman.

I love it. Just like last time. “Tomlin is coming to LSU. Lincoln Riley is packing his bags now. “. And then we get. “Our head coach was right here all along.” Just face it. The resources are the best in the country football wise. But, nobody wants to live in Louisiana or more specifically Baton Rouge.

Do you know this for a fact? I'm pretty sure there were quite a few big fish interested but Joe Alleva is an idiot, got his feelings hurt, and hired Orgeron.

Alleva was literally crossing off candidates if they attempted to negotiate the offer put out. That 2016 search has nothing to do with this one.

Not if we keep buying out people for ~$20m

Have you been to Tuscaloosa? Oxford? Fayetteville? Norman? Baton Rouge is at least as good as those places, and slays Norman and Tuscaloosa.

Up until the UT loss against TCU Herman was coming to LSU and then bailed for his dream job. Go back and look at the list of available coaches at that time the only one worth anything still is Jimbo and we could have had him but Alleva. Pickings were incredibly slim and Alleva had never been through a legitimate coaching search before.

Last time was different, and the difference was Aranda. The defense was locked up, and CEO had the recruiting on cruise control, so the only thing needed was an OC. Once Herman fell through, the CEO model started to make sense.

Truthfully I feel like up to 45% will hate the hire no matter who it is...

Too old
Too young
Hasn't won a NC before
Not southern enough
I don't like his offense
He can't recruit
He can't coach

Just a few examples of what will be said about the new coach before he even has a chance to have a practice this spring

No, its not. Northern AL is one of the most beautiful places to live, and LA has a serious issue with its schools. The quality of life is better in AL, TX, GA the list goes on.
