I don’t think he leaves. Got a great financial situation and abundance of resources at Oregon without the rigors of the SEC. Handful of hard games most years.

Sometimes these coaches will surprise you but I just don’t see it

Going consistently 9-3 at Oregon will absolutely get you fired. They are a program that has made its way into the upper echelon of college football currently. 9-3 would not fly at any of the other teams in that category, so don't expect them to be happy with that, especially if you are trying to argue that they can win a title.

I think people on this board need to mentally prepare themselves that LSU is not going big game hunting this time around.

They are going to go young up and comer with a track record of HC success.

They will pay him $5-6m a year on a 5?yr basis with massive financial incentives for benchmarks met a playoffs appearances, wins, championships etc.

The rest of the big name Coach’s money will go to roster building. Buy the best players.

Lanning's golden handcuffs are too strong at Oregon.

Though they've denied it, he was definitely a target when Saban retired. At least through his agent. The level of the buyout was too uncomfortable. If he didn't work out, they'd have been in way too deep.
