Agreed. Why tee up an interview on McAfee 2 days after your wife visits Florida and a day after she visits LSU?
It seems like you are inviting a big stage to announce something, whether that's I will be the coach at Ole Miss moving forward or I will not be the coach at Ole Miss moving forward and saying the latter makes no sense right now.

I would expect him to say nothing less. Even if he is leaving he wouldn’t go announce it on a national syndicated show. I wouldn’t put much stock into what he says in this interview. Coaches will say something and don’t complete opposite the next day.

He will give the typical coach speak answer, but not really answer the question and just say he doesn’t want to disrespect his players by talking about coaching rumors just as he has up until this point nothing to see here

I think he says the first part without the last part and Pat has been instructed not to press him further on that topic. Lane's ego can't help himself. He's going to milk this until his signature is on a new contract somewhere, whether that be at Ole Miss, LSU, or Florida
I don't see a scenario where Sexton wants his client going on air to be put on the spot about his next job, and I also don't see Pat McAfee being given the platform for Kiffin to drop actual bombshell news either.
