LSU football coach Les Miles indicated offensive coordinator Gary Crowton will return in the same position next season for the Tigers despite the Tigers' poor offensive performance in 2009. Miles quashed rumors that made their way around the Internet on Thursday that Crowton would be fired or leave for another job after the Tigers finished last in the SEC in total offense and 112th out of 120 FBS teams nationally at 304.5 yards per game. "There's been two conversations by phone that he and I have had and that's it, and nothing of length," Miles said in a Friday meeting with local media. "Frankly, we all know we have to improve on offense. That'll be the push. "We all have to make some adjustments and we all have to do some soul searching, look at the things we're doing. I think the process is a very positive one and that's very much on the horizon and Gary will be a part of it." When asked if he had been told by Athletic Director Joe Alleva or Chancellor Mike Martin to make a change, Miles replied: "That's not real." Crowton was on the road recruiting Thursday and was seen in the LSU football operations facility Friday. "We've got a lot of work to do and I'm ready to get started," he told the Baton Rouge Advocate on Thursday.

i don't like or believe in miles, but i am simply floored he's keeping crowton on. this is going to end up costing him his job.

It seems like he's getting worse, or maybe I just didn't notice because everything was going well.

They can help each other pack after next season.

Miles and Crowton together again!
At least Miles watched the Saban Victory Speech on Thursday night and has introduced the word "Process" as part of his venacular. Maybe it can replace "Want".

Putting 2 and 2 together we can see that Les tried to do something, but it got blocked to this point..

This makes me very sad...I think Les Miles will be gone by the end of next season. Tiger fans have pretty much already bailed on him, so, next year, the first 2 couple of losses, and boom, they are going to run him off.. I can feel it brewing...the Ole Miss game was the beginning of the end
Les Miles is a coach that needs elite type co-ordinators...and Crowton has show he has lost his stuff...maybe the game has past him?
I don't know...I used to be really high on Crowton..
but this has become serious....
we can all try to put a nice pretty spin on it..
I have tried for 24 months...
Miles has a fat contract and has won his MNC, so I don't think he is too worried about his legacy or money...
If he goes 8-4 next year, he will sail off into the sunset...one rich dude, with a nice ring and some great memories..
9-3 will make it real hard to fire him, but if Bama goes undefeated in the SEC again and Miles has 3 or 4 losses in the SEC again...
LSU fans will be done with this distant 2nd place business...I know I will be

Losing when you put forth your best effort is not shameful. Sometimes you get beat, it's how you improve and learn that defines a person or a program.
Right now, I am not confident Miles or Crowton learn from their mistakes.

"They're gonna fire you too."
"You should have fired Crowton when you had the chance."
"Dumbass"
"At least you didn't open a restaurant."

i'm not ready to reflect on his time here and say he'll have good memories. he better not think that yet. we have a real chance here with the talent coming out of this state next year. Shepard not getting playing time has probably hurt us enough. he is recruiting for us.. and what's he supposed to say? if any of these difference makers want to come in and make an impact.. it won't matter what Miles says.
actions speak louder than words... Miles should know this.
i can only hope that we are organized next year and don't make mistakes before/after plays. this doesn't feel good

Why would someone veto the firing of Crowton? If you want this program to succede, then we are gonna have to get a good OC. I don't understand this desicion.
