He'd be the puppet of a crazed gov at LSU who's going to be lurking over his shoulder.

You're giving Landry waaay too much credit for being some evil puppetmaster.

His beef was with Woodward. Kelly's underachievement simply gave Landry the ammunition to finally force Woodward out.

Once Landry has his guys installed as President and AD, he's not going to say shite about the new head coach.

he has complete control over there. He has final say over football expenditures and capital improvements. The Pres and AD work for Lane. He's not getting that at LSU or UF.
that part

i think thats also the main reason he ended up turning down AU three years ago, he wouldn’t have gotten that type of control there either

For Kiffin it may not come down to dollars between OM and LSU.

If he wants to stay at a program with great resources, OM fits the bill. But if he wants to be at a program with elite pedigree and resources, it’s LSU no doubt.

it'll be between OM or Florida. Book it.

Landry is a cocksucker and will suck whoever the new Pres, AD, and HC is.

Can’t imagine his kid in HS wants to relocate or the mom. I think it’s a waste of time to hold out hope on Kiffin or Saban.

Kiffin is not going to LSU nor UF and he never was. He is staying at OM where he is in full control. LSU is going to have to go the unknown or retread route.

Miles converted a lot of those, until the game passed him by. I sort of miss the Mad Hatter

From someone on the inside, we definitely will be. And it won’t be any of the names floating about. I was just told “you’re going to be very happy”

This is the only thing that gives me hope... everyday that passes and we don't hear words of extensions from any of these coaches means there is a chance.

Kiffin is going to end up wherever he wants to be, not who gives him the biggest contract. He's got money. Whats an extra million when you are already rich?
Dude wants to win a championship. He'll coach wherever he thinks he has the best chance to do that.

doesn't seem to focus on defense, at all.

It's so hard to take y'all seriously when you spew bullshite like this with no truth behind it.

Last year Ole Miss had the best defense in the SEC, 2nd nationally, in terms of points per game. They were the 14th ranked defense in terms of yards per game.

His first year there, the Covid year, he ranked dead last. Since then he has finished around about middle of the pack for SEC defenses with last year's highlight top defense in the conference.

Tell me again how he doesn't focus on defense at all?

He had one year with absurd mercenary talent on defense. Other than that, these are his national defensive ranks in PPG and YPP. Other than 2024, he's never had a great defense. Averages 53rd in PPG and 63 in YPP. Take out 2020 and 2024 outliers and it's about the same.

He just doesn't do great defense. You can win like that, but LSU fans would grow tired of it. That's my overall point.

USC:
PPG: 63rd YPP: 90th
PPG: 45th YPP: 54th
PPG: 40th YPP: 62nd

Won't count the year he was fired

FAU:
PPG: 35th YPP: 63rd
PPG: 93rd YPP: 81st
PPG: 40th YPP: 49th

Ole Miss:
PPG: 118th YPP: 118th
PPG: 51st YPP: 59th
PPG: 57th YPP: 47th
PPG: 40th YPP: 63rd
PPG: 2nd YPP: 4th
PPG: 53rd YPP: 70th

I'm curious to see what the extension will look like and how creative they get with it to continue skirting around the MS state employee contract term limits.

When Kiffin signs his extension with Ole Miss will people accept that it was always going to happen or will they blame Landry and the AD situation?

Does everybody realize that he had all he needed last year and totally failed? This year he got super lucky with the QB that wasn’t even going to start this year. He also has a favorable schedule this year.
Let’s see if he blows it at the end.

The extension has been on his desk for going on three weeks now. Prior to the LSU crash out.

Why hasn’t he signed it yet?
