His first year coaching there and a program on probation. I think he has a little time before his seat gets warm. Not to mention the rest of the pac 10 is stronger than it has been in recent history (oregon and stanford).

I believe Mike Garrett knew full well that Kiffin was a fraud. I think that was his F.U. to USC because he knew he was on his way out.

I think he will be granted a fair timetable, and more of the probation era tenure(which handicaps any hire)..
But, I doubt Pat Haden is his biggest fan? And it would seem unless Kiffin skyrockets in future years, once sanctions ease, that he'll end up USC's rebound hire?
I think that comment may just be Kiffin, either using coach speak BS, or he may actually be truly growing up a bit and taking accountability for the ND loss, and in signaling to his AD and his Team, that everyone is held to task.

$C fans were pretty down on Kiffin last week on a couple of their message boards. I think they are fully aware they made a mistake.

He said it to give the players something to play for. IMO, I don't think he takes the job knowing what would happen, and it would not surprise me if he no longer wants to be there.
Giving a coach more time is the correct thing to do. A coach like Kiffin doesn't want his every move to be watched. After his time at UT, it would be wise to assume he is being watched very closely. USC has a program that they are going to have to restore. Kiffin thought he was going back for business as usual.

-he was on staff when Bush was a player
-he knew damn good and well that shite was foul
-there was no doubt sanctions were coming
what dumbfrick in the world wouldn't put that into his contract? "if I take the job, no matter what the record is, as long as we're on probation, you cant fire me for win/loss record"

No way he gets fired this year. It will be tough on him the next two though, with all the scholarship reductions.

2 good teams in the whole league is not strong or stronger.
The reason he could actually be out after only 1 year is that they have a new AD who may want to hire his own coach.
I doubt Kiffin will be fired simply because they will not want a huge buyout, but it is possible and there probably has been some discussion on the matter. In the end he is safe for at least 3 years.

Yeah. Just like RR in Michigan, Kiffin is going to be told to make some defensive changes, although I am not sure he will this year.

Like what? He has one of the best DCs in ALL of football.
Kiffin just isn't a good coach. You can't blame the scholarship limitations this season. It has no impact at all yet. The real impact will be felt in 3 or so seasons.

He was a dumbass for taking that job now anyway. The Tennessee is currently a much better gig. He's still only in his mid 30s, plenty of time to land that dream USC job AFTER they've recovered from sanctions if he really wanted it.
And there's no way USC is going to fire him. Who the frick would want to go there now?

yep, and things are catching up with him. i imagine the powers at usc are keeping him on a short lease as they do not want further national embarrasement. for the life of me, i can't figure out why they hired that snake but i'm glad they did. also, it appears that his dad, supposed inventer of the tampa 2 is losing his touch and he is not going to coach forever. in fact, he may be in "semi-retirement" mode now. when his dad retires and he loses his protector, i expect kiffin's reign to be over. doubt there well be many more schools that will hire him. couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

not to mention next year USC loses 2 starting LB's so their D won't be nearly as good as this year in all likelihood.
