Ah, yeah I forgot about Armstrong. Maybe Steele is coming in to help with the calls and mentor. Will be interesting to see what happens. Steele is definitely a downgrade as a recruiter from Pete.

Really surprised. I thought Saban would take one more big swing but this is definitely not his best work

this feels like LSU post-2019 when our coordinator hires were huge disappointments

It really does. If I was a bama fan it’d be hard to be excited about these hires

Hell if Rees wasn’t being pushed out indirectly he would have rather stayed at ND.

From what I remember when Steele was at LSU, the defense was definitely better than the previous year, but it wasn’t particularly special either. With the talent Bama has, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Steele put out a strong defense, or at least somewhat improve what they had last year.

NS is in charge of the defense no matter who he hires. Bama's defense will be the Bama defense it always is.

So, he rather stays at Notre Dame than be at Alabama?! What are drugs are you taking this time?

Old enough to remember Bama fans mocking Auburn when we hired Steele.

Oh how the tide has turned, literally.

Alabama will still be better due to better players in general. Auburn didn't have that kind of roster to begin with. How the heck did Alabama won championships with retread coordinators?

I can't stop laughing at Sabans coordinator hires.

Nick Saban did a fine job for a long time, and I do not see this change any time soon.

But he also hired Austin Armstrong. A young DC from Southern Miss. I’d imagine he’s a co-DC with Steele.

Why! Why did you have to open your mouth on this one?

He’s a Notre Dame alum. Would you rather coach at Missouri or Boise state?

That seems like a similar parallel for moving from ND to Bama.
