There is no reason not to have him on the staff, we need all the help we can get on o-line. We also need someone that can bring in top level talent. We need the bigs guys!!!

As an analyst to prove himself- sure. As O Line coach? Not yet. He doesn’t have the experience and hasn’t been an on-field OL coach yet. How do you know if he can recruit? We need a home run if we replace Cregg, and Mawae just isn’t that sure of a thing.

We should bring in Josh Reed to coach WRs and Ryan Clark to coach Safeties while we’re hiring former players. They must be great coaches by virtue of being great players.

Kevin actually coaches and has done a great job at Arizona st. With average talent.

when does his daughter graduate from ASU? isnt that the reason they moved there?

He’s only an analyst there though. I got caught up in the Mawae hype until I realized he’s not even an “on field” coach yet.

Have you seen what the analysts do during games? It's not any different than other coaches.

Why haven’t we hired Joe Burrow as head coach yet?? He was our best player so that means he would be the best coach.

I was looking up to see if his daughter is still there and it looks like she now swims at Hawaii.
He is an analyst. He has worked with the te. We have no idea what type of recruiting or coaching he has done there. Hard to know with analysts as they have varying degrees of responsibility. Many compare it to the Faulk situation. But since Faulk was here, we knew he was recruiting on campus and was helping already some with the rbs. And he has been blasted for his rotation and development of current backs this season.
We have zero idea if mawae would make a good coach. Sometimes the best aren’t the best coach. It comes so easy to them it is hard to translate that to teaching. Many of the best coaches were the more mediocre players who had to really rely on technique and studying it to do anything. Not always the case, but who knows
At this point O needs to make good hires. He can’t take a flyer on someone

I love Mawae but football has changed so much since he's played. If he can recruit and teach modern technique for modern offenses then yea.

Ryan Clark to coach Safeties

Why do I feel like Mawae is a Gruden situation. Some here are infatuated with him, but is it warranted?

because they have all gone down the same post-playing road.

he was widely known as the most crafty, technician in the NFL......Kevin's entire career has been based on hard arse work. He had NOTHING given to him.
One thing he has is passion and tenacity. God gave him that. It is those qualities that make many coaches great.
I understand people drawing the linear conclusion of former greats and translating to coaching, but Kevin is far different. There's a reason the players trusted him to represent them in the league. That reason is why parents/players will trust him to develop and look after them (recruiting).
Kevin is special at far more than being an excellent pulling center.......

I wonder why he wasn't retained after a year as assistant O line coach for the bears and out of work in 2017 despite looking for a new job at that year's senior bowl.

The fact remains, even with all of Mawae's contacts in the NFL, no coach as ever given him a chance to be the OL coach. The only reason that he's an analyst for ASU is because of a long-time professional relationship with Herm Edwards, and even Herm did not hire Mawae as an OL coach.

Joe Brady was just an analyst too so maybe lightening can strike twice.
