When the word goes out that LSU weaseled out of a contract by enforcing bogus morals that's going to eliminate a lot of candidates.
When word gets out to potential candidates that have a propensity to cheat on their wives with the local real estate agent they will be sure to modify the morality clause to exclude local restate poon.

How do you know that’s what it was? Could have been multiple things.
I think the governor being involved with the LSU football coach is a bigger red flag for future interest than a morality clause being enforced.

For those saying this is a bad look for LSU, if the payment is made in a lump sum now, with no attachment to future earnings, it is actually mutually beneficial. Kelly can make money on his money depending on how he wants to invest it and he is free to get another job. From LSU standpoint the have reduced the buyout which is a win for them.

Jeff Landry, appoints most board members and has influenced high-profile decisions—like the recent firing of football coach Brian Kelly—especially during leadership transitions. However, this is informal involvement, not a legal duty shift. The state constitution assigns the governor executive oversight of state programs, including higher education, but does not transfer university duties to them in a president's absence. The board maintains authority, and an interim president ensures continuity.

Half now with the ability to invest plus enter another contract somewhere else is a phenomenal deal for Kelly compared to just under a million a month for the next 6 years.
People that don’t understand how wealth is accumulated would think this is a bad look for LSU with new potential coaches lol

the next coach can choose not to include said morality clause in contract.
The morality clause will absolutely be in the next coach’s contract. It covers much more than a piece of arse on the side.

Regardless, the optics of a governor stepping in publicly can’t be a good look. Even if he has no final say.

What if Saban said I will coach LSU for the next 3 years for 5 million a year but you have to remove the morality clause?
It would be removed with a quickness.
The point is, EVERYTHING is negotiable.

I really don't think any future candidates care. If your confidence level is so low you are scared of the governor you have no business coaching at LSU.

We're competing with other openings and their current employers. If our situation is showing dysfunction at the top and the others are not that isn't helpful.
ETA: This is no longer on Jacques page so someone with sense talked to him.

Man you can tell a majority of this place has not run a business or ever been actively involved in a contract.

I've seen accusations of Landry meddling but no specifics and if he has meddled it seems like it's contributed to a positive outcome.
Any specifics of Landry's said meddling? I really don't understand the concern at the moment.

Interesting.
I've seen this before.
Media comes out early with details.
Gets rebuffed by sources.
Media retracts.
Official story comes out and it's the same as the early details.
I guess we will have to wait and see.

Well whether the current athletic director was involved seems to be in dispute, that's a problem, but it doesn't appear to be disputed that their were meetings at the governor's mansion about Kelly. That happens hours after the governor tweeted the BOS should reconsider raising ticket prices. Hard to say he's not involved so far.
