Lane can't sign anything yet because he's still under contract to Ole Miss as of today, and he knows what the perception is about how he left Tenner

You don't see the difference between leaving the day after your team is eliminated and leaving the week before your team starts the playoffs?

This is a real insider. He's not saying done, he's telling you the deal can flex at any point but not by lack of effort. Which is 100% true. I would not be shocked to see Florida back in these sweepstakes because they know for sure he's not staying at Ole Miss. Unless he's entirely intent on getting something Florida can't ever offer him, this is far from a done deal.

Yeah, by the time the Egg Bowl is finished, Lane will have finished the regular season, just like Schlossnagle did.
