He was very strong while DC at GA Tech; left after Johnson's arrival. Is currently coaching Linebackers at Notre Dame; I can't believe that he is enjoying that.

He also leaked the Miles to Michigan story. Doubt Leslie would want to hire him after he ruined his dream job.

Miles might thank him for ruining the Michigan job!
Take a look at RR's record!
Not pretty!
LSU fans should be Thankful for our record given the issues we have had to deal with this year.
Michigan is a mess and will take 2 years to come back.
LSU will be much better next year and a Top 5 Team in 2010! Book it!
Hire Jon Tenuta!!!!!!

I'd much rather Ellis Johnson or Les go and get a NFL DC candidate...

I'm not sure that's a great idea. I want a DC who has been successful at scheming against the spread. Our problems has been more with the spread then with pro-style offenses.

With our talent, get a good leader that can scheme and run the show. It can be a younger guy with some fire.

paging Dick Bumpas
quote:how many of them are in the NFL?
The 2006 TCU defense ranked second nationally in run defense (60.8 yards per game) and total defense (234.9 ypg.) while placing third in scoring defense (12.3 points per game).
quote:
He was named the Rivals.com National Defensive Coordinator of the Week following the Horned Frogs' season-opening 17-10 win at Oklahoma. TCU held the Sooners to 225 yards of total offense and the second-lowest point total in coach Bob Stoops' tenure in Norman.

In a coaching career that has spanned 30 years, Bumpas has won championships in four different conferences and coached at all three service academies. He has also coached in 15 bowl games.

Like Will Muschamp....but I'm sure he is both happy at Texas while he is also getting paid a shiteload.

IF Les really wants a change and really desires to get the best, with our athletes and money, he shouldn't have much of a problem finding a quality coordinator, who is multiple.
For all we know, Les may purge the entire defensive staff. It's up to him and it depends,in my opinion, on how patient he is and how tolerant of defensive mediocrity he is.

Absolutely. You find a DC who can hold Florida to under 30 points, you hire him. Every SEC team will be chasing the Gators until someone develops a great spread defense.

I have no inside info. but based on things I have read from seemingly reliable posters on here, I believe Miles will at least look into the idea of hiring one DC.
I also believe having Co DC's was his last resort and his first 2 candidates (Muschamp and Tenuta) didn't work out for different reasons.
At that point, perhaps we had some commits last year that wanted an answer so he tried it out.

Bumpas is in as much control of the defense as Muschamp was when he was here under Saban. The head coach, Patterson, calls the shots over there.

Really, I've never heard that. He's gottn alot of praise when I see them on TV. Not discounting what you're saying at all. Just never heard that.
