This really seems like a situation where you turn to your staff and say compile a list of candidates and profiles so we can start racking and stacking them on the big board then start making phone calls. Your support staff should have dossiers on multiple candidates that O and Scott can consider. Maybe they do.

Pelini has actually been a successful DC at one point in his career. Joe Barry hasn't even managed that.

To be fair we did that with Freeman and got snubbed in the end and then went with a solid option with familiarity which should have been an "easier" hire and got caught by an end run by the Saints. Then there's Arnett who apparently we chose not to offer.
Outside of interviewing more candidates I don't know what LSU should have done different. It still looks bad though.
