What good has Alleva done for us?

In a word: facilities. LSU facilities have never been as good as they are now. Just off the top of my head...

-Renovated the Field House, and built meeting and locker rooms for the first time ever in the program's history.

-Built a brand new state of the art Tennis Facility with the program's first dedicated indoor courts

-Built the finest gymnastic practice facility in the country

-Building the finest beach volleyball facility in the country

-Replaced all the windows in Tiger Stadium

-Built the South End Zone expansion to Tiger Stadium, adding 66 suites, 3,000 club seats, and 1,500 Skyline Club seats. Increased total capacity to 102,321. Also served to cover up the eyesore that the old south end zone used to look like.

-Renovated most of the bathrooms in Tiger Stadium, except those in the south end zone. Removed all the south end zone dorms. In the process of renovating all the concession stands and replacing the tv's with HD big screens.

-Added the largest videoboard in college basketball to the PMAC. Plans in work to modernize the facility as well.

-Added terraced berms and bleacher seats to the outfield of Tiger Park

-Will be adding weight rooms to both The Box and Tiger Park

Simply put, Alleva is the best facilities guy LSU has ever had at AD.

How many of the first year coaches on that list inherited a program with 17 consecutive seasons of 8+ wins?

I mean, 7.5M isn't really overpaying anymore. Coaches salaries have increased a lot. I will agree that 8-10 years is a lot.

From ESPN article:

quote:

Sources told ESPN that Texas A&M officials have approved a 10-year, $75 million contract for Fisher, which is the richest deal in college football history in terms of total value. He'll be the second highest-paid coach in the FBS with an average salary of $7.5 million, which ranks behind only Alabama's Nick Saban.

You think he is worth that? More than Dabo? More than Meyer?

Alleva conducted a coaching search as if LSU was Tulane.

he basically just said frick it and gave it to the DL coach.

how many interviews did he conduct when he had an ENTIRE SEASON to search?

he deserves to be shite on.

If LSU had any balls whatsoever, this would be the final nail in the coffin and they would fire his arse. But, looks like LSU wants to be dumb and have him aboard anyway, and I'm confused as to why. What good has Alleva done for us?

I am not a huge Alleva fan, but here is the logic you just presented:

LSU should fire the AD because a coach he did NOT get a year ago just went somewhere else, when the guy he DID get may go 10-3.

I really think you people don't think things through and just live in your own little bubble.

I'm not defending the search, as I was as underwhelmed as anyone else.

But every AD has his/her strengths, and Alleva's is in facilities.

I agree with you. I was just pissed the search went the way it did. If O does work out it's not because Alleva is a mastermind, though. More dumb luck than careful hiring process, imo.

All on Alleva. Had Boards approval for 7 last year offered and tentative deal was reached. Alleva called back the next day and said 6 without board approval Jimbo backs out.

That makes no sense and I don't believe you

Kirby smart walked into as good of a situation at UGA as O did at LSU.

Who did better in year 1?

So I take it you can’t, or won’t, answer the question?

I don't think this thread is irrational.

I dont know who had 17 straight 8 win seasons(weird fricking stat).

But UGA was

12-2
8-5
10-3
10-3

In the 4 seasons before he took over. They were in similar shape as LSU when O took over.

I mean shite, Jimbo himself apparently had a cultural conflict with FSU.

Jimbo is not leaving due to culture. He is leaving because he is making 75M dollars and he couldn't get facility upgrades he wanted for recruiting.

The only politician a coach needs to be is a winning politician. Things work themselves out when you win. There is a reason FSU wanted Fisher around even after 3 straight years of him shopping his contract.

Everything points to the notion that FSU in fact did not fight to keep jimbo at all this year.....

Wasn't the lowest bowl UGA has gone to the Liberty and that was with Richt in their 22 year bowl streak? I guess the Liberty Bowl was the only year they finished with less than 8 wins since Donnan took over.

I guess the Oahu that Donnan went to was probably lower, but it was an 8 win season I believe.

Reason I am pointing this out, Orgeron did better than Smart year 1 with same type of "history"

if his deal is 10 years, I can't say I blame them considering he is 5-6 at the moment.

The money to hire Jimbo is just retarded. I honestly think in the long run we are much better off with out Jimmy Sexton and Jimbo Fisher.

I said in a very direct way orgeron did better in year 1

And in your own terms, whichever coach has the better year has proven himself to be the better hire. So yes, you are indirectly saying orgeron was a better hire than saban.

Simple fact.

I'd also love to see you apply your rationale to the Saban/Erickson example that was directed to you in the other thread.
