Jimbo: Woodward and LSU benefits

The lessons learned from Woodward’s hiring of Jimbo at A&M most certainly made an impression on Scott. Jimbo has not set the world on fire and rest assured Woodward has improved his vetting of potential coaches as a result of that whiff. LSU has benefited through the Mulkey and Jonhson hires and trust he will bring in someone to their standard to lead the football program.

Woodward did exactly what the BOS at A&M told him to: open the checkbook and get Jimbo.

It’s definitely too early to call Jimbo/A&M a flop.
While it’s true he hasn’t gotten them to the “top” yet, there’s no doubt he has elevated that program. Is he worth the money? Probably not, but he’s definitely had some success there relative to what they’re used to. They’re recruiting better, W/L record is better, and they’ve even gotten a few program-defining moments.
At this moment in time, that was a good hire. Very few people IMO would say that was a bad hire, especially at the original $7.5m. The 10 year contract guaranteed could and should absolutely be criticized, but hey if they were willing to take that risk at A&M, that’s their deal.
I still think he’ll eventually get fired there, because I don’t think his offense is ever gonna get them over the next hump, but nonetheless so far so good on the program-building part.

Jimbo not winning at A&M is more A&M than Jimbo.

Which is exactly what will happen here with Mel Tucker.

The man just beat Saban. With his back-up Qb
And he was screwed out of the playoffs by Notre Dame bias, and finished at #4. He's currently ranked after losing his Heisman candidate and then losing two close SEC games. Then he beat Saban
We would give our left nut if our coach who is paid more than Jimbo, had done that over the past 2 years

Sure
But Aggie would have given both nuts for. Natty 3 years ago.
Jimbo actually would have done well at LSU because of our recruiting base.
A&M is a mediocre program with money

Coaching has nothing to do with that. They hired him to win and he hasn’t produced. Before the Bama game he was an afterthought. He got lucky.

After Jameis Winston, NO to Jimbo! No more scandals!

Unless I've missed the announcement, LSU does not have a replacement for Ed, yet, nor has Woodward even opined on the open position.
