Sour grapes. He provided them a top 10 defense seemingly every year. No one recruits at an elite level to Wisconsin. He certainly got players that could play though.

Incorrect.

Got torched regularly by decent offenses and Fick had to bring in several portal guys to fill gaping holes left by the previous staff.

And we're not talking top end portal guys that went ahead of average guys. We're talking average guys going ahead of mediocre players in already thin DL and CB rooms.

think it's the opposite of that. Blake isn't dumb enough to go work for a coach that ran him off. He knows he's good and knows Kelly fricked up.

Kelly did not “frick that up”

BK made his hire, who just so happened to already be an LB coach. You weren’t gonna keep two LB coaches on staff and you weren’t giving baker the DC job at that point. It’s not like BK said Blake you suck you gotta go. It’s just business. Looks like BK made the wrong hire, but House did have a pretty good season last year and there was some promise that it would be a good hire. I think the bigger whiffs were the CB/S coaches and the DL coach

I think he’s a little overrated. He puts up good numbers because of the style of football Wisconsin has played for 70 years.

Limiting possessions by playing 3 yards and a cloud of dust definitely helped all UW DCs. Including Aranda.

If your new boss says "hey we're moving in a different direction. Bye."

That lingers. Only a cuck would go work for the new boss 2 years later.

More like, boss’s boss brings in a new boss, who eliminates your role.

Boss’s boss calls back 2 years later wanting you to take the role of your former boss, I.e. a promotion.

Leonhard worked his way out of getting handed the job at his alma mater so Riley shouldn't be too worried.

This is so fricking stupid. Kelly was never Baker’s boss. When a HC is brought in to clean house and change the culture, not retaining a position coach is nowhere the same thing as “running him off.” Be smarter.

He’s a Big 10 guy who’s staying in the Big 10. He was never going to be the guy. Just get one of Minter, Baker, or Guidry.

It should happen, but I think CBK's ego wont let him bring back a guy that he ran off only to have the replacement suck bigly and destroy the defense.

He demoted Denbrock at Cinci and basically pushed him out after. Yet here they are together again. I know there was a lot longer in between, but it still shows how coaching works. Position coaches don’t usually get retained and get moved around all the time, and that’s what Baker was here and what he was initially set to be at Mizzou.

This is all true. Some people here act like it’s common for position coaches to be retained. Occasionally one or two are, and that was Brad Davis here, but most head coaches want to bring in their own selections. There was no chance Baker would be retained if House was going to be the DC.

Now, for those of you who are prisoners of the moment, Baker had just been let go from his DC position at Miami when he came here to be the LB coach. Now, I think Baker was really the fall guy for Manny Diaz and it was really his defense they ran there. However, coming off that, he was never going to be Kelly’s DC hire here. This fanbase would have raised hell over it if he had been.

It’s easy to say not keeping Baker was a miss in hindsight, but the ONLY reason he’s the DC at Mizzou is because their previous guy took an NFL job and they promoted him rather than go look for someone else very late in the game. It worked out very well for them, but let’s not pretend he was their guy all along.

I think Baker is a strong option and hope he is considered.

Any coordinator or position coach who is this much of a pussy would have a very short, unremarkable career.

It couldn't be that this board is a bunch of LSU fans wish casting an upgrade from their loser DC and oblivious to outside factors that might change the hive mind's hypothetical DC target. No it couldn't be.

Obviously LSU fans are touchy and irritable that they are wasting a historic offense because BK doesn't know shite about defense.
