He came south because this is where the talent is. Why go back up north before he ever has a chance to build lsu up? Just doesn’t make sense to me if that’s truly why he came down here.

He came south because:

1. We offered him life changing money.

2. Yes, he saw Louisiana as a hotbed for top tier talent and he's right.

But that doesn't mean he can't get great players at a school like Michigan too.

I have no idea if Kelly has enjoyed living down here or not, but he's probably always gonna have more of a connection to the north. I live in NYC and it doesn't matter how long I'm here, I will always have a love for my southern states and culture.

If he leaves, it is what it is.

I'm out of the loop. Why would he want to leave for Michigan? What's his tie to Michigan?

Kelly coached at Grand Valley St from 1987-2003 (Allendale, Mich)
He coached at Central Mich from 2004-2006
His long time DL coach Mike Elston who has moved with Kelly from 2004-2021 is now the DL coach at Michigan

Kelly's a NE guy, from Mass., but coached mostly in the rust belt states (Ohio, Mich, Indiana).

My counter to that though is Kelly left ND to come to the SEC because he knew he was not going to win a NC without the access to SEC level talent. Michigan isn't going to be any different than ND. Make the playoff, but lose to the SEC. See Ohio St and Penn St for examples of B1G vs top SEC teams.

because some of this fan base still thinks guys like Culotta or Moscona are actual insiders when in reality they’re dead arse wrong 95% of the time and just throw shite at the fan.

This is true. None of us know BK well enough to know his personality or what he wants. He left for a better job. He may view Michigan as a better job than LSU. I think most people out of the south would think so.

Why would he want to leave for Michigan?

Back to Back CFP appearances. Bluest of blue blood. Play one good team a year. CFP lock every year. Tons of reasons

Kelly isn't a top recruiter. He needs the access he has to talent at LSU to have a chance.

Michigan would have to be out of their mind hiring him.

Let alone Kelly wanting to leave fertile recruiting grounds that help mask his greatest weakness.

My brother has met Don Yee a few times from UVA Law connections. Claims he's a sharp guy.

There's no such thing as a "great coach"

Look through history. All the great coaches have had either the most talent or generational players. Nick Saban before NIL. Belicheck with Tom Brady. Bear with more players to cull than any other program in the country. A compilation of the best talent wins championships or lightning in a bottle for a season.
