I think it could be a strategic leak, create some outrage to get Tate out of the room on the hire and let Scott work.

I have no problem if you get Nos on some big fish and you work your way over to Tucker getting some run...but as it stands now, he doesn't belong in the conversation.

Aranda has a better resume as a college DC and has more top 25 wins than Tucker.

Yeah, there is a reason. Probably because he is not the guy. It isn’t like Woodward to leak such stuff and there is so much smoke it feels intentional. It fees like Bianco all over again.

Why on Earth would Saban give a recommendation of a guy not only to bring to his past place of employment, but to one of his current employers bigger competitors.

Saban is not that stupid and this would be as accurate as the recommendations on Peetz by Brady.

Come on people this is pure speculation. For all we know this
is all BS.Anybody who has followed SW knows he keeps things under wraps. It could be MT but past history says its a
smokescreen.

So that tells us Napier is the better coach in Saban’s opinion
That’s my takeaway from it. I wanted Napier to begin with so hopefully Scotty can see through the bullshite.

Right, so he trusted him as a position coach. Was he ever their DC?

I’m disgusted by the way most on this board have responded to Tucker’s name being mentioned for the job. I heard somewhere last week about how foreword thinking he is by the way he used the transfer portal to completely change the roster and culture of the Michigan State program.

Again, they haven’t played a winning team. Cool, he took advantage of the portal when he needed to.

Hmm, why? Why take it personal? It’s fair when it is resume related. Are you equally disgusted by the never Napiers?

He’d give it to Woodward. Coaching is a pretty tight community, and as much as we may hate Saban, I think he wants to see his guys succeed. So, I don’t think he’d set Tucker up for failure, and I don’t think he’d frick over Scott by nefariously sabotaging a HC recommendations. And Saban must see something in him as he’s hired him 3 times and made him Assistant Head Coach the last time he hired him in 2015. Was also the DB coach.

its not a direct sabotage but you're crazy if you think Nick is going to recommend someone that legitimately threatens him. Its common sense to anyone, much less someone as competitive as Nick. He knows a strong LSU poses the biggest threat to him. I don't believe he thinks Tucker would fail, but he's probably also very comfortable going up against him yearly.

If you are that emotionally involved to be disgusted by how people react to what they feel is not a qualified coach for this job AT this point in his career… then you may not want him to get the job at all.

I just hope we aren’t being extra sensitive towards him. I hate to see him lose as many games here as he has already.

I believe Tucker needs to prove himself more before getting a job like LSU. I am sure he is up for that challenge.

yeah I don't really get how working the transfer portal especially in the year of the super senior is some feather in his cap. Seems like pretty common sense when you have fat to trim from a previous regime

And I bet 90% of them had no idea of his background beyond this year’s MSU team, aggressively dismissing their 7-0 as due to having not played anybody yet and assuring us they will wind up losing 3 or 4 games.

His only two other seasons were losing seasons.

If he runs the table, he would be a viable candidate. Hes not.

Agreed it is not as if Saban is sabotaging.

It’s the same situation of asking Brady and Aranda for recs. They still have more important things to focus on. There isn’t going to be enough thought into it.

And yes, Saban is ABSOLUTELY NOT going to rec someone he is afraid of. Saban can be a bitch at times. He hated that up tempo offense. Now he gives Freeze all sorts of credit since he is no longer in the SEC. I would want a guy Saban would not want to mention. I would want a guy that makes him concerned.

I have 1 source In my life. He’s not an LSU guy but NFL guy. I said in another thread and I’ll say it again. Without me even asking he brought up Mel Tucker this weekend. He went on and on about the guy. He absolutely sold me on Tucker. Then I look at his record and yes it does scare me a bit. But I also believe Tucker has been contacted and maybe even first. Probably last week. So there is definitely some smoke around him.

hell if Nick wanted LSU to do well why did he do everything he possibly could to keep Lane from coming here as OC?

Right and LSU wasn’t established.

That is 4 years worth though right?

Tucker only has one full season. One. And then one shortened season where he went like 2-5. That’s it.

I love the nugget you laid in there about this being a woke hire as if to rile the board up. I'm not believing this, sorry. I'm sure Saban did mention Tucker though, that part is believable. Of course he'd recommend a guy he can curb stomp every year.

It would sure be nice to see how Tucker finishes out this season and at least a 2nd season at Mich St.
