Coach O should take a lesser job and prove he can coach for more than 8 games. Then try to move up.

Well, it's fair to evaluate his prior experience: 3-21 in conference. Can't hire a guy with that resume. Just can't.

If he didn't have his audition he wouldn't have even been considered for the position in the first place so I don't really see how that's unfair.

It's perfectly fair. He was given an opportunity to coach us, and if he won out he would have landed a job he wasn't previously qualified to get. He had his chance to prove he was a guy we couldn't do without. He did well taking over for Les, but he didn't prove he was a must have. It's fair to say he couldn't reinvent the entire scheme of the offense during a season, but it's also fair to point out that there is a lot about being a head coach that goes unnoticed that Les was good at. Since O did not overwhelm us with his success, we go with the coach with the best resume and proven success.

So it wasn't fair to evaluate him on the Ole Miss job because it was a long time ago and he has learned from his mistakes. Now it's not fair to evaluate the job he's done as interim coach. So, don't evaluate him on anything, just give him the job? Why? Because he loves LSU and Louisiana and he talks like us! Umm, no, I don't think so. There is a coaching job in Louisiana that would work like that. It's ULL and he can probably go right down the road and get it...maybe.

But it's really not fair to him and Ensminger for them to be evaluated for the full-time position while being interim coaches.

So you're saying it's more fair to just give him a 4 year contract regardless of how he coaches in these games?

When Mullen leaves State, I would like to see you guys hire Orgeron.

It is unbelievable you stupid mfs use the ole miss experience as your benchmark to judge him and completely ignore the experience he has gained since then, as well as his results since then. I'm not an O guy, but I damn sure am not going to shite on him and not acknowledge that he can and has improved. He is a Jackson/guice frocking from probably having us in the sugar bowl.

Orgeron couldn't beat Bama or Florida in Tiger Stadium with Fournette, Jamal Adams, Tre White, Beckwith, Travin Dural, etc.

Next season, LSU travels to those schools without those players!

O would be fired after the Florida loss and we'd be in the same hole we are in now.

Now is the time to give it to a guy who has multiple years on his leash.

Not his fault against Florida he got tag teamed by Jackson and guice, otherwise they win by at least 2 TDs if not more. As for bama, yes, ashamed those players you listed didn't beat those scrubs

Yep this is what we would see from you after every loss in all of Orgeron's 8-4, 7-5 seasons. It's the players' fault. But you'd give him the credit for the wins.

"Fair" is a place you go to ride rides and eat cotton candy!

Life isn't fair, and neither is big business...Which is exactly what major college football is. You don't make a hire for a position at this level based on some abstract concept of fairness.

The perpetual trying to fit a square peg in a round hole and never being able to figure why it won't work.

It is fair. Sports is the ultimate meritocracy. You win, you'll get all of the glory.

O dug himself a deep hole with his OM stint, and he still had an audition that most other coaches with his record would never get. He had to do the improbable, but that's a good dress rehearsal for what he would've been in store for as the permanent HC. He didn't do the improbable. Too bad for him, but he got as fair a shot as anyone with his background should get.

I don't think Steve wants OC job. Dud is 58 and happy to coach TE.

What experience?

He hasn't been a permanent head coach anywhere since he left Ole Miss. Interim HC is far, far different than bring the permanent HC responsible for all aspects of a program year after year.

Orgeron wouldn't have even received an interview. He was gifted with an opportunity to excel as interim coach. It was a long shot...but he wasnt getting a shot otherwise.

On paper he is not qualified. He did t deserve being considered. And based in his interim performance (even though it's not all his fault) he doesn't deserve to be a legitimate candidate.

There's a misconception that an interim coach is auditioning for the permanent job. It has happened before, sure...but if you're cutting a coach loose mid season you are typically promoting someone on that fired coach's staff to man the wheel for a while.

It's about continuity -- since the season is underway already, but if you are getting rid of an existing coach you typically want to inject a new energy into the team with an outside hire.

Orgeron is a good guy, seemingly and a decent coach but I didn't see this interim gig as a path to coaching a top tier program.
