It's interesting to look at the list of Coaches Salaries...some glaring numbers

2014 NCAAF COACHES SALARIES
A few things that jump out:
1. Jimbo Fisher (Florida State)...is 14th highest paid college coach...he is due for an increase and that is why you will hear his name mentioned this week...he is underpaid
2. Mike Gundy (Oklahoma St)... is 15th highest paid...despite off year, he has been very successful at Oklahoma State...he is underpaid
3. David Shaw (Stanford) is 49th highest paid coach...very underpaid...
4. Pat Fitzgerald (Northwestern)...39th highest paid...9 years at Northwestern...decent track record at a tough place to coach...time for a move?
5. Mark Helfrich (Oregon)...51st highest paid coach...two years at Oregon...set for big increase?
Eight of the top 20 highest paid coaches are from the SEC...11 of the top 30...obviously, SEC schools like to pay their coaches well...perhaps that is one reason for coaches wanting to come to the SEC.

Definitely underpaid.

Eh. Seems right. I think off the top of my head I could name 14 coaches with a job I'd rather have. That really should be the determining factor on how much coaches should get paid IMO.

Definitely. Although if I'm Oregon I'd still wait another year or two if I can to bump him up. He's rocking with some pretty good left over Kelly talent.

I would like to see how these salaries are represented as a % of football revenues.
I know there are a lot of factors,
but stadium size has to be one of them....
It'd be interesting to know the SEC's average seating capacity in the stadiums, vs. the ones for the "underpaid" coaches.
Also "size of student body" may have a effect.

Not really

Don't get me wrong, I don't think he's a bad coach but to make your coach the 4th highest paid in the nation after finishing 3rd and 4th in your own division...to pay him more than Les Miles, Urban Meyer, etc is still just shocking to me

Eh. Seems right.

I think it had more to do with preventing another school from hiring Sumlin away....namely Texas.

Over paid.

Would David Shaw go to Michigan if offered? Would Pat Fizgerald leave his alma mater to go to Michigan if offered?

Well when you put it like that.
And it is at Ok St. So he has probably peaked the program. It'd be interesting to see him at a school a little more big time.
I really really dislike Brian Kelly, I was surprised he was so low though. I don't know why but I just assumed ND payed him big time money.

What an amazing country we live in that a goober like Dabo Swinney can make over three million dollars a year.

I would love to see what Pat Fitzgerald could do at a school that didn't have the restrictions of Northwestern. That guy can flat out coach IMO.

Probably a really dumb question, but what falls under "other pay?"
It's just random Charlie Strong gets 5,000,000 and then $270 in other pay

I'm surprised that Brian Kelly at Notre Dame only makes $1.4M a year and is the 64th highest paid.
Also, I'm surprised that Rutgers pays Kyle Flood only $900k a year. I know its Rutgers but I'm still surprised that a B1G school pays their coach less than Louisiana-Lafayette pays their coach.
