If we get a couple great coaches with him, I'm ok with it I guess. It's a big unknown, but that is better than a known retread failure in my opinion.

Goddamn there are some negative people on this board. Dude stands just as good a chance of being a success here as not. Nobody knows. How about let's see (providing this is actually the hire)

Ed did promise us the best coordinators in the country. Guess the best DC coordinator just happened to be someone who hasnt called defense in years and someone none of us had heard of. Great!

Well you give an idiot enough rope, he will eventually hang himself. If this is the route he chooses to go, you shouldve just went with Raymond

Alrighty then,

That tweet looks like it was sent straight from O and Derek to sell us on the hire. Not saying good or bad but it hit on everything to try to help us understand the reasoning

This is what you get on a limited budget! Way overpaid for a dinosaur last year and now we don’t have the $$$.

I’m in but if Feldman just jinxed us a third time I’m gonna lose it. Don’t know enough about Jones to form an opinion, but if he’s purple and gold, I’m pulling for him.

But it’s certainly a risky one for O.

Kind of why I like it. He could have gone and gotten a retread to give us a slight improvement. But he gets an unknown. Ballsy. So he must see something he likes.

We just need the guy to be competent. Shut down defenses are a rarity in today's CFB. Even the great Brent Venables has given up 42 (could have been 56) and 49 points in his last 2 playoff games.

He must be the best coordinator in America, if O is keeping his promise

If he hired Tosh Lupoi as Co-DC/LBs coach. I could squint hard enough to see a path to success.

Blake Baker? Really? Didn’t they just allow 600 yards rushing? And he’s going to be the run-game coordinator? Lawwwwd hammercy

Not gonna try to convince myself this is a good hire but hope it works out.

But with this in addition to Pelini, Ensminger 2018, Canada fiasco, etc., guess we can go ahead and put the "only da best coordinators" concept from tBinder model to rest. It's certainly a speculative hire at best.

I don’t know anything about him and I won’t pretend to know if he will be a good or bad DC.

Though I’ll say this, I was all onboard the Arnett train and from all accounts that interview was 2 hours long and they let him go on his way. For them to do their due diligence on Jones, and like him enough to offer him the job after his interview...that has to count for something.

That’s a bold strategy Cotton, let’s see if it pays off for him.

This board loved the Pelini hire so if they hate this hire I’m feeling pretty good.
