It would have been much cheaper to just pay Herman an extra million a year

If saving money was the goal with hiring O, that did not pan out. I am amazed Aranda did not bolt with all this coordinator juggling, possible fist fights with Canada, etc.

Ensminger as an OC or even co-OC would just be awful, because O will always side with his wingman, Steve. We would never know how much autonomy the new OC would have, if much at all.

Herman is going to get Texas to the playoffs sooner than O will. I'd bet all my savings on that.

Just hoping it somehow works out and I'm wrong.

HERMAN WAS NEVER EVER EVER EVER COMING HERE. What do y’all not understand? He has worked his whole life to coach UT.

Herman was never coming to LSU. Just research the guy just a little bit and you'll understand that.

We literally had this stupid arse thread yesterday. NEWSFLASH - HERMAN WAS PLAYING US FOR AN OFFER FROM TEXAS. We were not going to outbid UT - they've got more finances than even A&M.

Lsutiger2424, tiggerthetooth, and jcole4lsu, you’ve just restored a measure of my faith in my fellow posters.

For the life of me, I cannot understand how so few posters have understood this simple and obvious fact. I guess it’s just their anti-Alleva confirmation bias—they figure that his saying that LSU would not get into a bidding war with Texas meant that he was afraid to man up at the negotiating table. I was hating on Alleva before it was cool, but his reading of the situation was smart and spot-on. The only way the situation could’ve played out better for LSU would’ve been if he’d upped the dollar figure so that Texas would be paying out their arse for that underwhelming record.

At least read the board if you don't want to search before posting...

This may actually be true, but it would have been nice to at least challenge Texas and make them pay a little more. If he was never coming here, then we had nothing to lose by offering him more and making Texas match it. It also shows the rest of the country and our fan base that we are committed to winning and will put our best foot forward. Instead, we rolled over and took it

Once Texas fired Charlie Strong, LSU had ZERO chance of getting Tom Herman. Coaching at Texas is his dream come true. All they had to do was offer him the job and he was theirs.

We could have made the best offer and he still would have gone to Texas.

Aranda is probably staying because he was probably told he would be next after O fails.

How bad would it have sucked if Texas kept Strong for another year and Herman ended up at LSU just to bolt to Texas when Strong was finally fired? I'm not upset LSU didn't get Herman, however I am upset that LSU settled for O.

I agree, I didn’t want Herman because I figured he would bolt as soon at UT opened. Although I didn’t think the admin and bos would settle for O. It was very disappointing.
