Not if it's announced before his conf champ. He wouldn't want that noise at all with his team about to make the playoffs.

Because he’s at Cincinnati and even if he wins his CCGS it would not shock anyone if the playoff committee dropped them to 5 so there is no outsider in the playoff.
What he done there is amazing but the deck is stacked against them there and it will take a perfect season and a lot of help for them to serious consistent playoff contenders.

And frankly, if he’d do it to them in the middle of a great run, what would stop him from doing it to us? He doesn’t strike me as that kind of guy. I’d love to have him but circumstances alone are enough to keep him from leaving Cincy this year.

I agree with other posters there’s no way he’s leaving Cincy this year. Has a generational chance to take a group of 5 program to a playoff. If he takes a job, with recruiting etc, he would have to announce it before the playoffs. That would crush his team and leave him looking like a real mercenary. That doesn’t seem to be the kind of guy he is, or the image he wants to out out there, and I think it’s terrible with recruits and current players.

Anyone who thinks that Fickell wouldn't entertain LSU because his season is still alive is an absolute moron.
We can TRIPLE his salary. I know he's a midwest guy and blah blah blah but you are outside of your mind if you think that he wouldn't even consider tripling his salary and coming to a school that's won championships under 3 straight coaches.
Would he ultimately take the deal? Who knows. But to suggest that he wouldn't even consider it because he's headed to the playoff is idiotic.

He will coach Cincy until the Ohio State job becomes vacant. That may be this year... may be in a couple years. That is his goal.

That's not necessarily a bad thing. Some good behemoth offensive lineman reside in the midwest.
