What is Woodys track record for hiring coaches?
Has his search suddenly developed massive leaks?
To Bruce fricking Feldman of all people?
What other purpose could this report serve?
Would TAF boosters really go for a 20M buyout to land Mark ducking Stoops?

Really, Jay Johnson has been to two CWS.
How many NY6 bowls has Stoops been in?
Johnson has coached a program at an elite championship level, Stoops has not.

It’s the buyout, it’s the lack of any kind of skins on the wall, it’s the fact that SW is apparently extremely confident everyone will love his hire. You don’t go around whipping your dick out at meetings over Mark fricking Stoops.

Agreed. The whole "Jay Johnson hire" equivalency soundbite that keeps getting thrown around on here is getting ridiculous.
While Johnson was an under the radar hire here, mostly because not many were talking about him and focusing on other candidates; it is not like he was some underqualified or shockingly overachieving coach. And not only did he go to 2 CWS, he had his team in the championship series of one of them. Plus he was already known as a top recruiter, not just some coach that pulled together a scrappy undervalued group of players and developed them into top line guys. He brought in talent, which is already doing here.
