Just about every post here suggesting another coach - whoever it is - gets downvoted to hell and back, and rightfully so in most cases. Is there a coach that Woody could bring in that would make this board happy?

Is there anything in the world that could make every person of every group happy?

The down votes rain because guys who don’t frequent the board everyday (several hours a day) come on here and suggest someone like it’s a novel idea. In reality the guy has been talked about and talked about and talked about

Riley, Rhule, Fickell are the only ones with the "feel" of a HR hire.

There's a tier under them that are still above average guys, but wouldn't be as exciting as those 3.

Saban. I've seen arguments about every single other candidate. He's the only person we could hire that wouldn't have somebody complaining.

The fact of the matter is though, we could get to the third or fourth tier of candidates as the next hire and it would still be about 5 tiers above Orgeron. So, I'm going to sit back, hope for the best, and know damn well that the hire will be a major improvement no matter who it is.

I would say just Riley and Rhule. Fickell hasn’t had their consistent level of success at a higher level and has zero connection to the region(which includes Texas) plus a real concern he’d run back to the Midwest at first opportunity.

Yes but ultimately bringing in a sexy name won't be enough. Ed wasn't who most of us wanted and he turned out to be who we thought he was. The tricky part is that I wanted Herman. Sexy name supposedly a "can't miss" coach. Welp...

Point being...it don't mean crap to like who the new coach is right now. I want to love him in 5 yrs! This board will burn him down if he doesn't win 9+ games next year. Nature of the beast.

Yeah Riley and Rhule would be on a different tier than Fickell. Fickell would be an exciting hire but not completely fool proof. Riley or Rhule would be landscape changing hires.

Napier . He loves recruiting , has been OC and QB coach for outstanding programs . He built ULL from nothing with no money . Get him good assistant coaches and he can win . I think he can work constructively with people to build a program . He won’t be threatened by a good DC and kick the guy to the curb !

Saban maybe, though some would still complain that he’s old and that he left instead of staying.

I don’t see how anyone could be unhappy with Riley, that’s a grand slam.

Riley would satisfy 99% of the board. The 1% who don’t want him have no fricking clue when it comes to football.

Rhule has won NOTHING! He has a .500 record in college football and is failing in the NFL. Why the hell is this board putting him on such a ridiculous pedestal!?
