yep if he left after one year
why take the job if you are even thinking about leaving after one year
true, but thats what he wanted in the contract, if he had a .750 winning percentage his brother has to be named head coach.
most people felt he was banking on an NFL lockout next year. he is trying to get his brother out of the AFL and into the college ranks

If this is the case, Miami is better off for not hiring him.

Is Miami having trouble hiring a coach...
Just saw on the ESPN rumor page that Brad Childress name is coming up. They must be having serious problems if his name's coming up

I don't think people on this board realize how hard it is to hire a coach, especially one with a proven track record. If Miami wanted to go the coordinator route, which they just did and that failed miserably, they could probably hire a guy fairly quickly. But if you're a moderately successful coach at another mid tier school without any assurances that you will get an offer, even going to interview will make the home fanbase pissed and of the belief that you don't want to be there. So coaches are somewhat resistant to being involved in long courtships with programs these days, because the way the media operates it will be out in no time.
So it makes it a lot tougher for a school like Miami to hire a proven guy. This isn't like Saban or Petrino where they wanted to leave the NFL. A guy like Dan Mullen is in a tough predicament of trying to show interest while having to resist going "all-in" for a job that might not even be offered. Sure, the Miami job is better than MSU, but it just isn't as easy as everyone is making it out to be unless you go the coordinator route.

fricking Bingo. The droolers on here are sure that LSU would get some top tier shining star coach if Miles left. We could just as easily twist in the wind looking for a coach like so many other good programs have in the recent past.
It'll be funny if Mia has to go with their 7th or 8th choice...

They arent getting Gruden and are too chickenshit to get Leach. That about sums it up I think.
Bingo!! I know he's got the pending suit with TT and CBS so he's likely not to get any offers like this, but if I'm MIA I'd take my chances with him. His crazy arse would at least have them relevant again, and I'd bet alot of money they'd be putting up crazy numbers on offense
