If we get a coach from the college ranks I would hope it is Jimbo, but Chip Kelly would have to be #1 on the list of realistic candidates if he would come back to college. Am I dreaming too big?

Everyone is dreaming too big right now, so it's OK.

It's like when Tennessee was looking for a coach, and there was all this hype for Gruden, and then they got Butch and everyone was butthurt. But it's starting to turn around for them now (key word: starting). LSU isn't going to hire who everyone expects, and everyone will probably be upset, but you just have to have faith.

You can't always hire the proven commodity. Sometimes you have to create them. Guys like Saban and Urban didn't just appear one day as T1 coaches.

With our talent and his offense we would be burning out the scoreboard lights

IMO chip Kelly to USC is much more likely and probably a better fit. im not saying it wouldn't work but he would have to change a lot of his staff to recruit the area.

I would be shocked if Chip Kelly is the coach of the Philadelphia Eagles next season.

Kelly left Oregon by mutual agreement. They had tired of his personality and his Saban like threat to go pro every season. He hated the non HC responsibilities & pissed off a lot of the big boosters by his too obvious disdain for them. Pro ball is his cup of tea but most of the ESPN talking heads, consider the source as it is, are saying his days are numbered in Philly.

I can't think of a reason why Chip's first choice is any school other than USC.

He's already familiar with the recruiting grounds. There's less competition in the PAC-12. Just makes sense.

This could have been said about someone else a few years ago.

I could see that too. He knows the conference and area.

Also, I know lots of LSU faithful would want to keep some of the coaches. Kelly does not strike me as a cat who would let anyone stay on his staff he did not personally bring with him/approve.

Not a good fit at all in terms of philosophy. A pro-style offense is USC's trademark, the big time alumni/boosters wouldn't be in favor of chip kelly and his offense.

I'd be all for it though.

Isn't that true for LSU as well?

I am failing to see how Chip Kelly would fit anything in Louisiana or LSU.

Like oil and water imo

I think LSU should throw the bank at Jimbo, personally.

I do really hate to see this happen though. I do not think there is a better man than Les in the SEC. I understand the need for a change sometimes, but it is a very unfortunate situation.

Kelly has been outspoken about how much he hated practically everything about being a college head coach aside from practice and film study.

He's been pretty open about how he hated recruiting and fundraising because they took away from preparation. That's not hearsay or conjecture, he's on record.

However, that's pretty odd considering that his offense is tailored more for college, but his demeanor is tailored more for the NFL.
