Is anybody else concerned that Alleva had his mind made up before today

The letter, his halftime interview, the rumor that an announcement was going to be made Sunday after thanksgiving all, to me, pointed to Orgeron.

Hopefully we aren't scrambling right now, but I don't have much faith in Alleva.

It's probably more of a negotiating ploy by LSU.

That's a good thing, no way they determine the coach with two games left. I got the impression his mind was made up, so that means it's not Orgeron.

Sounds like the opposite to me. I mean he may have his mind made up, but the announcement time tells me it will be an outside hire.

If his mind was already set on Oeaux, I would think he would have announced it already.

there is NO WAY Alleva had decided to hire Orgeron before today.

LSU can't sign a contract with another HC until their season is over. but it could with Orgeron. so, if he was the man, why hasn't it been announced?

it wasn't announced because it wasn't going to be Orgeron. he needed to run the table before getting serious consideration; it was the fans that talked him up.

I agree with Hester. On the post game he said he had a feeling Alleva was leaning 70/30 Orgeron/someone else before this game. I think Alleva had every intention on naming coach O the head coach the Sunday after thanksgiving. I think he assumed we would win both these games.

Exactly. If Coach O was the definitive hire then there is zero gained by not announcing it prior to today's game.

O was never getting this job.

That's what makes the Florida loss tough to stomach... O wasn't getting it anyway, so we pissed away a Sugar Bowl berth. The positive is the "split fanbase" is eradicated... No one will be "pro O" now.

In case something like this happened. I'm being a little loose with my words. I should have said I think Alleva had made up his mind that if O beat Florida and A&M then he would give O the job. I think Alleva thought it was very likely that we beat Florida and A&M.

One can only hope.

The fans already cost LSU last November, I hope to God they failed this time.

Nah.. no one in their right mind wants O now. I wouldn't be shocked if O himself comes out and says he doesn't deserve the job.

This really was a blessing in disguise, because everyone is now on board with going out and getting a coach that is competent on offense. And there will be no regrets passing on O like there possibly could have been had he won out.

Not surprising. Think of how bad it would have been had he won.

The letter literally pointed to any viable candidate for the job.
